When installing, slide the front noise insulation in under the bumper.

ROOF TRIM MOLDING

Note. To remove roof trim molding, it is not necessary to remove the side window.

Scheme 24

1. Roof trim molding NOTE: Roof trim molding must not be twisted or bent. -- Remove the door seal from the body flange in the >>A-pillar<< and roof trim molding area. -- Drill off rivet heads of pop rivets, strike rivet shafts through and remove roof trim molding. -- Carefully pry the roof trim molding out of clips over the side window and remove it.
2. Side Window
3. Trim Strip -- To remove the B-pillar, pry it out of the clips on the roof beginning at the side. -- Pry out the side trim strip on the side panel out of the clips. -- Slide the trim molding down out of the roof trim molding.
4. Pop rivet Quantity: 9 on the roof trim molding.

OUTER SILL PANEL STRIP

Note. The sill panel strip is secured to the side member using adhesive strips. It is not possible to remove without destroying.

Scheme 25

1. Door seal
2. Sill panel strip Removing -- Heat the sill panel strip using a hot air gun and pull the molding upward and off. Installing: -- The side member must be free of dirt and grease in the adhesive area. -- Heat the adhesive surface to approximately 40 °C with a hot air blower. -- Remove protective film from adhesive tape. -- Insert the sill panel strip with the centering pins in the side member and press it on firmly in stages from front to back.
3. Adhesive tape Pull off protective foil before installing.

STONE CHIP PROTECTIVE MOLDING

Note. The stone chip protective molding is also secured to the side member using adhesive strips. It is not possible to remove without destroying. The clips are destroyed when removing the stone chip protective molding and must be replaced.

Scheme 26

1. Stone Chip Protective Molding Removing -- Warm the adhesive areas using a hot air gun and remove the stone chip protective molding from the side member in stages. NOTE: The clips are removed from the retaining pins when the stone chip protective molding is pulled off and they must be replaced. Installing: NOTE: The side member must be free of dirt and grease in the area with the adhesive strips. -- Bend the removal tabs on the protective film up so they can be reached when the stone chip protective molding is installed on the side member. -- Slide the stone chip protective molding onto the clips as far as the stop working from back to front. -- Note the order for removing the removal tab. -- Press the stone chip protective molding onto the side member in stages.
2. Clip Quantity: 9 The installation direction for the clip is stamped on. Slide the clips onto the pins according to the installation direction and engage them. Align the clips lengthwise to the side member.

Remove the removal tab in the sequence -1-, -2-, -3- and -4-.

Press the stone chip protective molding onto the side member in stages.

ROOF TRIM STRIP

Removal and installation is identical to the A5. Refer to ROOF TRIM MOLDING .

SILL PANEL STRIP

Removal and installation is identical to the A5. Refer to OUTER SILL PANEL STRIP .

Scheme 28

Remove side trim. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the noise insulation -1-.

Loosen the clips -2- in order to carefully press the retaining clips together -arrows-.

Carefully loosen bonding -1- and -2- on the side panel.

Remove front wheel housing liner FRONT WHEEL HOUSING LINER .

Scheme 30

Remove the bolt -2- and both washers.

Remove the bolts -1- and -3-.

Remove the bolts -2-.

Scheme 31

Open the door.

With a second technician, slide -arrows- the sill panel trim -1- forward and remove it.

1. Unclip the clips for the sill panel trim.

INSTALLING

1. Tightening specifications, refer to «SIDE MEMBER TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW - AUDI RS 5»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Note. Remove and install damaged clips and rubber grommet.

Make sure to position the clips -2- for the sill panel trim -1- correctly in all of the mounts -arrow- when installing.

Scheme 32

Do not forget the washers when tightening the side trim panel.

MIRROR GLASS

Special tools and workshop equipment required

1. Pry lever 80 - 200

Press the mirror glass -1- from the mirror adjusting unit using the pry lever 80 - 200 -arrow-.

Disconnect the heated mirror electrical connectors -2- and -3- on the rear side of the mirror glass -1-.

Scheme 35

Unclip the electrical connector -5- from the bracket, if applicable.

Disconnect the connector -4-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Position the mirror glass on the mirror adjusting unit and press it on.

Note. Only press in the center of the mirror when pressing the mirror glass on.

REMOVING

Remove the mirror glass. Refer to MIRROR GLASS .

Note. Cover the area around the mirror housing with a soft cloth to protect the paint.

Remove the bolts -4- and -5-.

Scheme 36

Release the retaining tabs -3- in the -direction of arrow A-.

Release the clip -1- and remove the exterior rearview mirror housing from the cover -2- -B arrows-.

Press the mirror adjusting unit down and remove the exterior rearview mirror housing upward.

Disconnect the connector for the turn signal.

Remove the side turn signal from the exterior mirror housing. Refer to [For engine(s) CAUA, CAEB, CALA] Removal and Installation .

1. Tightening specifications, refer to «EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW - VEHICLES THROUGH MAY 2009»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal.

Scheme 37

Remove the exterior rearview mirror housing. Refer to EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR HOUSING .

Remove the bolts -arrows-.

Disengage the retaining tab -2- and remove the cover -1- on the mirror adjusting unit mount.

1. Tightening specifications, refer to «EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY OVERVIEW - VEHICLES THROUGH MAY 2009»(/audi/a5/i-2007-2011/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-coupe) .

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the exterior rearview mirror housing. Refer to EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR HOUSING .

Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Remove the speaker trim and the treble speaker bracket. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Disconnect the electrical connector by pulling the retainer -3- back -arrow A- and pressing the release -4- down.

Scheme 38

Pry the grommet -2- out of the exterior mirror seal.

Remove the retainers from the door shell in the exterior mirror area.

Remove the exterior mirror seal -1- off of the door shell while removing the bolts -arrows-.

Remove the mirror adjusting unit mount while guiding the wiring harness out through the body opening.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Install the exterior mirror housing. Refer to DOOR SEALS => Installing .

Install the treble speaker bracket and speaker trim. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Install the door trim panel. Refer to Removal and Installation .

Scheme 39

Remove the mirror glass. Refer to MIRROR GLASS .

Remove the screw -1- from the mirror adjusting unit -2-.

Release the retaining tabs -arrows- and remove the mirror adjusting unit.

Disconnect the electrical connector -1- on the mirror adjusting unit -2-.

Scheme 40

Press the mirror adjusting unit onto the mirror mount until it engages audibly.

2. Protective gloves

Note. Cover the area around the mirror housing with a soft cloth to protect the paint.

Press the mirror glass -1- from the mirror adjusting unit using the pry lever 80 - 200 -arrow-.

Scheme 41

Disconnect the heated mirror electrical connectors -2- and -3- on the rear side of the mirror glass -1-.

Unclip the electrical connector -5- from the bracket, if applicable.

Disconnect the connector -4-.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following

Position the mirror glass on the mirror adjusting unit and press it on.

Note. Only press the center of the mirror glass when pressing it on.

Remove the mirror adjuster. Refer to MIRROR ADJUSTING UNIT .

Note. Cover the area around the mirror housing with a soft cloth to protect the paint.

Remove the bolts -4- and -5-.

Open the clip -2- and remove the exterior mirror housing -3- from the cover -1- -arrows-.

On vehicles with lane change assist, remove the exterior mirror housing -1- just enough until the connector is visible.

Disconnect the lane change assistance warning lamp connector -2- on the front side of the mirror adjustment unit bracket -3-.

Remove the exterior mirror housing -2- and disconnect the connector -3-.

Remove the exterior rearview mirror housing. Refer to EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR HOUSING .

Remove the bolts -2- and -3-.

Disengage the tabs and hooks -arrows A-.

Push the cover -1- down enough so that the tabs disengage and then release the hooks -4- -arrow B-.

Remove the cover on the mirror adjustment unit bracket.

1. Trim removal wedge 3409

Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Interior Trim .

Remove the speaker trim and the treble speaker bracket. Refer to Interior Trim .

Disconnect the electrical connector by pulling the retainer -3- back -arrow A- and pressing the release -4- down.

Pry the grommet -2- out of the exterior mirror seal.

Remove the retainers from the door shell in the exterior mirror area.

Remove the exterior mirror seal -1- off of the door shell while removing the bolts -arrows-.

Remove the mirror adjusting unit mount while guiding the wiring harness out through the door opening.

Remove the screw -1- for the mirror adjusting unit -2-.

Release the retaining tabs -arrows- and remove the mirror adjusting unit.

Disconnect the electrical connector -1- on the mirror adjusting unit -2-.

Remove the electrical connector -2- from the bracket.

To do this, press the release in the -direction of arrow A- and remove the electrical connector -1- from the bracket -2- in the -direction of arrow B-.

Note. Replace adjusting mechanism.

Clip the adjusting mechanisms -3- and -4- into the rear spoiler -2-.

Remove the peel-off backing, align the intermediate piece -1- with the adjusting mechanisms and tape it to the rear spoiler.

Retract the rear spoiler. Refer to the Owner's Manual.

Remove the upper water drain hose -1- for drive unit. Refer to UPPER WATER DRAIN HOSE FOR DRIVE UNIT .

Install and align the rear spoiler in the drive unit. Refer to REAR SPOILER GAP DIMENSIONS .

Push the rear spoiler and hold it with a second technician in alignment with the body contour.

Open the rear lid and tighten the bolts -2- and -3- through the opening for the water drain hose.

Install the upper water drain hose for the drive unit. Refer to UPPER WATER DRAIN HOSE FOR DRIVE UNIT .
