Scheme 1

  1. Frame Removal: Fold the seat backrest all the way back. Lower the headliner. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-sedan) . Sunroof panel removed Remove the water drain hoses. -- Remove the nuts -4- and screws -2- on the frame. -- Lift the frame through the rear door and out of the vehicle. Installing: -- Attach the frame with the nuts and screws loosely to the roof. -- Connect the water drain hoses. -- Secure the frame in the bodying using a 12 mm drill bit on the front right side and a 10 mm drill bit «ATTACHING POINTS FOR THE FRAME»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan) and then tighten the nuts to the tightening specification beginning at the front center and working back on the left and right sides. -- Tighten the screws in the same sequence to the tightening specification.
  2. Bolt 8 Nm
  3. Wind Deflector Removal, refer to «WIND DEFLECTOR»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__wind-deflector) .
  4. Nut 8 Nm
  5. Bolt 4 Nm
  6. Motor Removing NOTE: Remove the motor only when the cover is closed. -- Interior lamps removed. -- Disconnect the motor connectors. -- Remove the screws -5- and remove the motor through the headliner cut-out. Perform an adaptation after removing and installing a motor. Refer to «MOTOR ADAPTATION»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__motor-adaptation) .

When installing the sunroof, the frame must be attached at the front right side -arrow- from the first nut -1- with a 12 mm drill and the rear left side (oblong hole) -arrow- (in illustration A60-10205) in front of the last screw -1- with a 10 mm drill.

Starting from the center, tighten the nuts and screws from the front and working toward the rear to the tightening specification. Refer to SUNROOF .

  1. Sliding Headliner Only for vehicles with glass panel. Remove the sunroof panel before removal. Removal, refer to «SLIDING HEADLINER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__sliding-headliner) .
  2. Right Sunroof Spring Remove the headliner cover frame before removing. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-sedan) To remove, remove the screw -7- at front and rear. Push front spring -2- forward and rear spring rearward, remove both from sliding headliner. Remove sliding headliner sideways from opposite guide rail and remove upward.
  3. Bolt 1.5 Nm
  4. Seal Replacing, refer to «PANEL SEAL»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__panel-seal) .
  5. Sunroof Panel Tilt sunroof panel to remove. Boot removed. Refer to «BELLOWS»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan) . Remove the left and right screws on the sunroof panel and remove the panel. Adjusting, refer to «SUNROOF PANEL, ADJUSTING»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__sunroof-panel-adjusting) .

Perform height adjustment at front and rear according to illustration to prevent wind noise.

Check height adjustment at each point, left and right, where rounded portion of roof opening merges with straight portion.

Sunroof panel should not be higher than roof at any point at front or lower than roof at any point at rear.

When adjusting sunroof panel height, start by running sunroof from open position (not tilted open) into closed position.

MOTOR ZERO POSITION, ADJUSTING

Motor is removed, electrical harness connections connected.

Move rotary control to "roof closed" position.

Motor automatically runs to zero position and switched off.

Install motor in this position with sunroof closed.

MOTOR ADAPTATION

Note. In order for the sunroof to work correctly after the motor has been removed/installed or replaced, perform an adaptation.

Sunroof motor

Switch on the ignition and close the doors, if necessary, close the sunroof.

Pull the sunroof switch and hold for 10 seconds.

The sunroof panel will lift, it will open all the way and then it will close.

  1. Keep the sunroof switch pulled during the adaptation process
  2. Now the adaptation procedure is completed.

Note. If new motors have been installed, then the adaptation process will start 10 seconds after the switch has been activated.

SLOTTED GUIDE RAIL ZERO POSITION, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING

Checking

Zero position can only be checked when sunroof panel is installed.

Boot removed.

Drive back sunroof panel and close again.

On vehicles with glass panel, slide sliding headliner completely toward rear.

Close sunroof.

For a correct zero position, guide pins -1- in center on tilting mechanism must align with marking -arrow- on link guide -2-.

Adjusting

Sunroof motor removed.

Sunroof panel removed

Push the slotted guide rail on both sides by hand into the zero position.

Adjust and install the motor in the zero position.

WATER DRAIN HOSES

Special tools and workshop equipment required

  1. Cleaning and Insertion Aid VAS 6620

Note. Use for cleaning the water drain hoses.

  1. Front Water Drain Hose Removing -- Clip the front water drain hose onto the A-pillar and end between the door and A-pillar. -- When removing, the upper and lower A-pillar trim must be removed, refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-sedan) . -- Remove the water drain hose on the sunroof, remove the grommet on the A-pillar and pull it downward. -- They are cleaned from the sunroof opening. Installation -- Pull the water drain hose completely upward from underneath on the A-pillar. -- Press the grommet onto the A-pillar and connect the water drain hose to the sunroof. -- Install the water drain hose on the A-pillar in the mount. They are cleaned from the sunroof opening.

Rear Water Drain Hose Removing -- The rear water drain hoses are routed in the C-pillars and end on the side under the wheel housing liner. -- Remove the C-pillar and D-pillar trim and lower the rear headliner, refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-sedan) . -- Remove the water drain hose on the rear sunroof -- Loosen the rear wheel housing liner in the front area and push it aside until the water drain hose grommet is accessible. -- Remove the grommet under the wheel housing liner by pulling it downward. Installation -- Installation occurs in reverse order. Cleaning is performed at lower end of hose. To do this, either remove the wheel housing liner or move it to the side. Refer to «REAR WHEEL HOUSING LINER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-sedan) . Cleaning is performed at lower end of hose.

WIND DEFLECTOR

Removing

Open sunroof completely.

Push the front wind deflector down and remove the wind deflector arms from the bracket toward the center of the vehicle.

Remove the wind deflector -1- and mount -3- toward the rear and out of the sunroof opening.

Install in reverse sequence.

Wind Deflector Spring Installation

Install the spring -3- into the wind deflector mount -1-.

Install the spring into the groove in the wind deflector -2-.

  1. Bolt 4 Nm
  2. Sunroof Panel Removal, refer to «SUNROOF PANEL»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-sedan__sunroof-panel) .
  3. Bellows Remove laterally from the panel and the frame.

SUNROOF PANEL

Remove the bellow laterally from the panel and the frame.

Remove the screws -arrows- on both side and remove the panel.

PANEL SEAL

Sunroof panel -3- removed.

Remove panel seal -2- from sunroof panel -3-.

Push new panel seal into sunroof panel -3- starting at rear of panel edge in center.

Note. Coat the edge of the panel with soapy water to make it easier to install the seal.

SLIDING HEADLINER

Sunroof panel removed.

Remove the screw -2- for the spring -3-.

Push the headliner -1- slightly to the rear and remove the spring.

Remove the spring toward the wear.

Remove headliner upward.
