- Seal -- Open the panel >>1<< completely and remove the seal. -- When installing, first position is on the front side, then push it to the rear under the panel 2 and press it all the way around onto the flange.
- Wind Deflector Removal, refer to «WIND DEFLECTOR»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant) .

- Sun Shade Cable Coupling Plate Can only be replaced with the cable. Removing, refer to «SUN SHADE CABLES»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant__sun-shade-cables) .

MOTOR ADAPTATION
| CAUTION | Perform the adaptation only when the panel is installed. Danger of causing damage. |
Note. In order for the sunroof to work correctly after the motor has been removed/installed or replaced, perform an adaptation.
Sunroof motor
Switch on the ignition and close the doors, if necessary, close the sunroof.
Pull the sunroof switch and hold for 10 seconds.
The sunroof panel will lift, it will open all the way and then it will close.
- Keep the sunroof switch pulled during the adaptation process.
- Now the adaptation procedure is completed.
Sunshade motor
Switch on the ignition and close the door, if necessary close the sunshade completely.
Press the sunshade switch to the close position and hold it for 10 seconds.
The sunshade will open completely and then close again.
- During this adaptation process, keep the switch pressed.
- Now the adaptation procedure is completed.
Note. If new motors have been installed, then the adaptation process will start 10 seconds after the switch has been activated.
WATER DRAIN HOSES
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Cleaning and Insertion Aid VAS 6620
Note. Use for cleaning the water drain hoses.

- Front Water Drain Hose Removing -- Clip the front water drain hose -1- onto the A-pillar and end between the door and A-pillar. -- When removing, the upper and lower A-pillar trim must be removed. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-avant) . -- Remove the water drain hose on the sunroof, remove the grommet on the A-pillar and pull it downward. -- They are cleaned from the sunroof opening. Installation -- Pull the water drain hose completely upward from underneath on the A-pillar. -- Press the grommet onto the A-pillar and connect the water drain hose to the sunroof. -- Install the water drain hose on the A-pillar in the mount.
- Sunroof
- Rear Water Drain Hose Removing -- The rear water drain hoses -2- are routed in the C-pillars and end on the side under the wheel housing liner. -- Remove the C-pillar and D-pillar trim and lower the rear headliner. Refer to «Removal and Installation»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim-avant) . -- Remove the water drain hose on the rear sunroof -- Loosen the rear wheel housing liner in the front area and push it aside until the water drain hose grommet is accessible. -- Remove the grommet under the wheel housing liner by pulling it downward. Installation -- Installation occurs in reverse order. Cleaning is performed at lower end of hose. To do this, either remove the wheel housing liner or move it to the side. Refer to «REAR WHEEL HOUSING LINER»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/mirrors/#exterior-equipment-avant) .

ADJUSTING, NEUTRAL POSITION FOR CABLE
Sunroof panel and motor removed.
The markings -arrow- must be aligned on the slotted guide rail guide -2- and the retaining strap -1- on the frame for the adjustment to be correct.
Power sunroof control module -J245- removed.

Slide the slotted guide rail guide until the markings arrive at the cover, if necessary.

- Sunroof Frame
- Wind Deflector -- Open the panel >>1<< all the way. -- Disengage the wind deflector net from the frame beginning at the front. Refer to «REMOVE THE WIND DEFLECTOR FROM THE FRAME»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant) . -- Raise the wind deflector and remove it from the bearing.

Starting on the side -arrow- remove the wind deflector net from the frame -1-.
Scheme 23
- Wind deflector -1- removed.
Remove bolts -3-.
Carefully remove the bearing -2- out of the groove at the marked locations -arrows- being careful not to damage the paint.
Push it to the side and the bearing will lock into the groove.

- Panel Trim When removing the panel, pull it toward the rear out of the panel.
- Cover >>1<< -- Open the panel and remove the trim toward the rear. -- Remove the rear screws and move the panel slightly to the rear. -- Remove the front screws and remove the panel upward. Adjusting panel, refer to «ADJUST THE SUNROOF PANEL»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant) .

Note. If the screws for the panel mounting were completely removed, then they must be replaced.

- Bolt 3 Nm
- Cover >>2<< Open the sun shade completely and remove the side noise seal. . Remove both front and rear screws and remove the panel.
- Panel Seal -- Panel 2 removed. -- Remove the left and right panel seals. -- Remove the front panel seal upward. Align the panel at the front and center and push it into the guides. . -- Insert the ends of the seal onto the molding pins.

Note. Spray the seal with soapy solution to make the installation easier.
Align the seal in the center to the panel and push it into the both front guides.
Press the seal -1- into the guides an the panel -2-.

Replacing Sunroof Seal
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Roller 3356
Note. Remove adhesive residue on body if necessary. Clean the adhesive surfaces on body with cleaning solution -D 009 401 04-. The adhesive surfaces must be free of dust and grease. Warm the adhesive surfaces and seal to approximately 40° C (105° F) before bonding. After installing the seal, press it with the 3356.
Remove both sunroof panels.
Scheme 29
Remove the seal -1- from the body flange.
Remove and remaining adhesive and clean the body flange.
Peel off the protective film from the adhesive tape and then press the seal with the joint facing the center of the vehicle. Pay attention to the marking.
Press the seal into the front points.
Press the seal onto the front side.
Press the seal evenly onto the long side to prevent any excess length.
Then press the seal all the way around using the 3356.

- Bolt 8 Nm.
- Bolt 3 Nm
- Sunroof Control Module -J245- Perform the adaptation. Refer to «MOTOR ADAPTATION»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant__motor-adaptation) .
- Sunroof Frame Removing -- Remove the headliner. -- Disconnect electrical connectors. -- Remove the front and rear water drain hoses. NOTE: The side and center screws on the frame remain mounted until the end. Two technicians must hold the frame before the screws can be removed and the frame removed. -- Remove the screws up the left and right center screws. -- With the other technicians holding the frame, first remove the center screws and lift the frame out of the vehicle. Installation -- Secure the frame with the screws. -- Disconnect the frame at the securing holes with a 8 mm drill at the front and rear. Refer to «ATTACHING POINTS FOR THE FRAME»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant) . -- Tighten the screws first at the front and then at the rear to the tightening specification. -- Tighten the screws longitudinally alternating from rear to front to the tightening specification. -- Install the front and rear water drain hoses.
- Roof
- Roof Sun Shade Control Module -J394- Perform the adaptation. Refer to «MOTOR ADAPTATION»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant__motor-adaptation) .
- Sun Shade Removing. Refer to «SUN SHADE»(/audi/a4/b8-2007-2012/remont/sun-rooft-topconvertible-top/#sunroof-avant__sun-shade) .

The frame -2- front and right side -arrow- must be connected next to the motor -1- and an 8 mm drill and right rear (oblong hole) -arrow- (Scheme 32) next to the motor -1- with an 8 mm drill.

Tighten the screws first at the front and then at the rear to the tightening specification.
Tighten the screws longitudinally alternating from rear to front to the tightening specification.
SUN SHADE
Sun shade completely opened.
Frame and panel >>2<< removed.
Secure the sun shade axle -1- from rolling off and secure it with a piece of wire -2-.

With a screwdriver, push the locking tab back and remove the sun shade upward.
Scheme 34
Press the latch -arrow- downward and push the rail to the left into the cable coupling plate.
Scheme 35
On the opposite side, remove the rail from the coupling plate and remove it laterally from the molding.
Using a small screwdriver, push the clip off the coupling plate and to the side and release the material.
Scheme 36
Pull the sun shade material to the rear out of the frame and remove the sun shade shaft.
Installation is in reverse order, while making sure that the side reinforcement is in the frame guide tabs -1- and under the guide tab -2-.
Scheme 37
Only after installing the frame, remove the safety pin on the shaft.
Note. If the axle in the sun shade shaft is rolled up, it is possible to re-establish the pretension by doing the following. Before the sun shade can be pretensioned, first makes the spring is completely relaxed by gently knocking the shaft.
Turn the axle -1- until it is possible to feel a slight resistance
Then turn the axle with the end piece -arrow- 12 turns while holding the shaft secure and the secure it from unrolling either with the safety pin -2- or a piece of wire.
Then the sun shade can be re-installed.
SUN SHADE CABLES
Sunroof frame removed.
Sun shade control module -J394- removed.
Remove the screw -arrow- and remove the stop -1-.

Pull the cable to the rear and out of the frame.
When installing, pay attention to the parallel movement of the coupling plate.
Adjust the parallel movement of the cables
- When installing, the new cables must be adjusted parallel to each other.
Install the cables on both sides of the frame.
Install the stop -1- and tighten the screw.
Push the cables on both side all the way to the stop and install the sun shade control module -J394-.
Perform the adaptation procedure.
SUNROOF MOTOR
| CAUTION | The neutral position of the cable must be checked after installing or removing the sunroof motor and adjusted if necessary, refer to ADJUSTING, NEUTRAL POSITION FOR CABLE . |
Remove the cover for the interior lighting. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Disconnect electrical connections.
Remove the 3 screws and remove the motor through the opening in the headliner. Refer to item 2 SUNROOF FRAME .
Perform an adaptation after installing.
SUN SHADE MOTOR
Headliner removed. Refer to Removal and Installation .
Disconnect electrical connections.
Remove the 3 screws and remove the motor from the frame. Refer to item 2 SUNROOF FRAME .
Perform an adaptation after installing.
