On vehicles equipped with a diesel engine built through November 2006 (running change) the control of the auxiliary air heater heating element via the auxiliary air heater control module. Check using Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in "Guided Fault Finding" function. On vehicles with Diesel engine manufactured later than November 2006 (running change in production), a 3-stage auxiliary air heater heating element is installed, which is actuated via a relay by the respective Engine Control Module (ECM), refer to «TESTING AUXILIARY HEATER ACTIVATION, WITHOUT A/C»(ref-496069-S19912628022012082100000) and appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM. By pressing button -F- again or switching ignition off, recirculating air mode function is switched off (motor is set to fresh air mode position after ignition is switched on). Refer to the Owner's manual.
  3. So that fogged up windows can be defogged as rapidly as possible, recirculating air mode function is switched off a short time after rotary switch for air distribution -B- is set to position -D- air distribution to front windshield and switch-on indicator lamp in fresh/recirculated air button -F- goes out.

If air distribution is changed via rotary switch -B- e.g. to footwell, heater remains in fresh air mode.

Air recirculation mode is not switched off when rotary switch -B- is turned through position -D- air distribution to front windshield (e.g. out of position for air to instrument panel vents into position for air at top and bottom).

If rotary switch -B- is located in position -D- air distribution to front windshield, recirculating air mode function can be switched on via fresh/recirculated air button -F-.
