Power Mirror Defogger Auto Operation Function

When the outside air temperature is 41°F (5°C) or below and the ignition switch is turned to ON (II) or the vehicle is in ON mode, the left and right power mirror defoggers automatically turn on. The power mirror defogger auto operation function is controlled by the door multiplex control unit.

1. When the door multiplex control unit receives a signal that the outside air temperature is 41°F (5°C) or below from the climate control unit, the door multiplex control unit automatically turns on the left and right power mirror defoggers within ten seconds after the ignition switch is turned to ON (II) or the vehicle is in ON mode.
2. Power mirror defogger output automatically stops in ten minutes as a result of its timer.
3. If the door multiplex control unit receives a rear window defogger/power mirror defogger switch input signal from the climate control unit during power mirror defogger output, the door multiplex control unit shuts off the auto operation function immediately.
4. While the power mirror defogger auto operation function is operating, the rear window defogger does not automatically operate.
5. The power mirror defogger auto operation function stops temporarily when any power windows operate during power mirror defogger output.

1. Remove the door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-512397-S26475672512012103100000) ).
2. Disconnect the 16P connector (A) from the door harness (B).
3. At the 16P connector, check the actuator operation by connecting power and ground according to the table. Power mirror actuator
4. If the mirror fails to work properly, check for an open in the wire between the connector and the mirror holder. If the wire is OK, replace the mirror actuator (see «POWER MIRROR ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-512425-S21257181132012103100000) ). Defogger Test
5. Check for continuity between terminals No. 11 and No. 12 of the 16P connector. There should be continuity.
6. If there is no continuity, check for an open in the wire between the connector and the mirror holder. If the wire is OK, replace the mirror holder (see «POWER MIRROR REPLACEMENT»(ref-512399-S37027571682012103100000) ).

1. Remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-512397-S26475672512012103100000) ).
2. Remove the screws from the driver's door grip (A) and grip cover (B).
3. Pull out the grip cover slightly from the door grip, then disconnect the 13P connector (C) from the power mirror switch (D).
4. Remove the two screws and the power mirror switch (A) from the grip trim (B).
5. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table. Power mirror switch
6. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the power mirror switch.
7. Install the switch in the reverse order of removal.
