Note. Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information (see GENERAL TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION ).

- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Clear the DTC with the HDS.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Go to step 5. NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM/PCM.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
- Disconnect the throttle body 6P connector.
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector B (49P).
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminal B33 and throttle body 6P connector terminal No. 4. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 10. NO - Repair open in the wire between the throttle body and the ECM/PCM (B33), then go to step 18 .
- Disconnect ECM/PCM connector C (49P).
- Check for continuity between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wires between throttle body 6P connector terminal No. 5 (ETCS- line) and No. 6 (ETCS+ line), then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 12.
- Check for continuity between body ground and throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 individually. Is there continuity? YES - Repair short in the wire between the throttle body 6P connector and body ground, then go to step 18 . NO - Go to step 13.
- At the throttle body side, measure the resistance between throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 with the throttle fully closed. Is there about 1.0 ohms or less? YES - Go to step 14. NO - Go to step 17 .
- Connect throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 with a jumper wire.
- Check for continuity between ECM/PCM connector terminals C2 and C3. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 16. NO - Repair open in the wire between the throttle body and the ECM/PCM (C2, C3), then go to step 18 .
- At the throttle body side, check for continuity between body ground and throttle body 6P connector terminals No. 5 and No. 6 individually. Is there continuity? YES - Go to step 17. NO - Go to step 26 .
- Replace the throttle body (see «THROTTLE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(ref-512345-S22857250882012103100000) ).
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Reset the ECM/PCM with the HDS.
- Do the ECM/PCM idle learn procedure (see «ECM/PCM IDLE LEARN PROCEDURE»(ref-512362-S04299387872012103100000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM/PCM, then go to step 1 . NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
- Reconnect all connectors.
- Update the ECM/PCM if it does not have the latest software (see «ECM/PCM UPDATE»(ref-512332-S15795428962012103100000) ), or substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-512356-S00793962012012103100000) ).
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
- Slowly press the accelerator pedal to the floor.
- Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS. Is DTC P2118 indicated? YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle body and the ECM/PCM. If the ECM/PCM was updated, substitute a known-good ECM/PCM (see «SUBSTITUTING THE ECM/PCM»(ref-512356-S00793962012012103100000) ), then go to step 27 . If the ECM/PCM was substituted, go to step 1 . NO - If the ECM/PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the ECM/PCM was substituted, replace the original ECM/PCM (see «ECM/PCM REPLACEMENT»(ref-512332-S08907075282012103100000) ). If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
