Power Seat Control Unit Input Test/Replacement

Note. If you are troubleshooting multiple DTCs, be sure to follow the instructions in B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ). SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ), and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before doing repairs or servicing.

Scheme 204: Power Seat Control Unit Input Test/Replacement
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
  2. Remove the driver's seat (see «FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2011-2014/remont/seats/#seats__front-seat-removalinstallation) ). NOTE: Be careful not to scratch the interior trim.
  3. Disconnect the 18P connector (A) and 40P connector (B) from the power seat control unit (C).
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. Reconnect the connectors to the power seat control unit, and do the following input tests: If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, go to step 6. Blown No. 12 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box An open or high resistance in the wire B36 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 15(10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box An open or high resistance in the wire A1 RED Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 3-4 (DR F/B STD) (60 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box Blown No. 21 (20 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box An open or high resistance in the wire A8 LT BLU Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 3-4 (DR F/B STD) (60 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box Blown No. 19 (20 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box An open or high resistance in the wire B9 (1) BRN In all ignition switch positions or all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. Poor ground (G701) An open or high resistance in the ground wire B9 (2) BLK In all ignition switch positions or all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. Poor ground(G701) An open or high resistance in the ground wire A4 BRN In all ignition switch positions or all power modes Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. Poor ground (G701) An open or high resistance in the ground wire B26 (A/T) GRN Shift lever in P position Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. Faulty transmission range switch Poor ground (G101) An open or high resistance in the wire Shift lever in any other position than P Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V. Faulty transmission range switch A short to ground in the wire B26 (A/T) GRN Ignition switch ON (II), or power mode ON, parking brake lever pulled Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.2 V. Faulty parking brake switch An open or high resistance in the wire Ignition switch ON (II), or power mode ON, parking brake lever released Measure the voltage to ground: There should be about 5 V. Faulty parking brake switch A short to ground in the wire B15 BLU Ignition switch ON (II), or power mode ON Measure the voltage to ground: There should be at least about 10 V. Faulty position sensor A short to ground in the wire B10 • B29 GRN • ORN Run the recline motor Measure the voltage between terminals B10 (+) and B29(-): There should be about 2.5 V average. Faulty position sensor An open or high resistance in the wire A short to ground in the wire B11 • B29 WHT • ORN Run the slide motor Measure the voltage between terminals B11 (+) and B29(-): There should be about 2.5 V average. Faulty position sensor An open or high resistance in the wire A short to ground in the wire B12 • B29 RED • ORN Run the front up-down motor Measure the voltage between terminals B12 (+) and B29(-): There should be about 2.5 V average. Faulty position sensor An open or high resistance in the wire A short to ground in the wire B13 • B29 YEL • ORN Run the rear up-down motor Measure the voltage between terminals B13 (+) and B29(-): There should be about 2.5 V average. Faulty position sensor An open or high resistance in the wire A short to ground in the wire B1 • B7 BLU • GRY Slide switch in FORWARD position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B24 BLU • LT GRN Slide switch in BACKWARD position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B6 BLU • LT BLU Recline switch in FORWARD position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B23 BLU • GRN Recline switch in BACKWARD position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B5 BLU • ORN Front up-down switch in UP position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B4 BLU • RED Front up-down switch in DOWN position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B22 BLU • PNK Rear up-down switch in UP position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire B1 • B3 BLU • WHT Rear up-down switch in DOWN position Measure the voltage between the terminals: There should be less then 0.2 V. Faulty driver's power seat adjustment switch An open or high resistance in the wire (1) With seat ventilation (2) Without seat ventilation
  6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then disconnect the connectors from the power seat control unit, and do the following input tests: If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the control unit must be faulty; replace it. Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained B38 PUR Disconnect the power mirror control unit 24P connector Check for continuity between terminal B38 and power mirror control unit 24P connector terminal No. 13: There should be continuity. An open in the UART wire A7 • A17 GRY • BLU Under all conditions Connect terminals A1 and A7, and terminals A17 and A4: The seat should slide backward. Faulty slide motor An open or high resistance in the wire Connect terminals A1 and A17, and terminals A7 and A4: The seat should slide forward. A9 • A11 YEL • LT GRN Under all conditions Connect terminals A1 and A9, and terminals A11 and A4: The seat should recline forward. Faulty recline motor An open or high resistance in the wire Connect terminals A1 and A11, and terminals A9 and A4: The seat should recline backward. A6 • A16 BRN • PUR Under all conditions Connect terminals A1 and A6, and terminals A16 and A4: The front of seat should move down. Faulty front up-down motor An open or high resistance in the wire Connect terminals A1 and A16, and terminals A6 and A4: The front of seat should move up. A2 • A10 GRN • PNK Under all conditions Connect terminals A1 and A2, and terminals A10 and A4: The rear of seat should move up. Faulty rear up-down motor An open or high resistance in the wire Connect terminals A1 and A10, and terminals A2 and A4: The rear of seat should move down.
