  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode
  2. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard) )
  3. Disconnect driver's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors D, P, Q, and R NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system If the terminals look OK, go to step 5
  5.   6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, and remove the right kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  7. Disconnect passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box connectors A, E, and G *1 (or H *2 ) *1 Without SH-AWD *2 With SH-AWD NOTE: All connector views are wire side of female terminals
  8. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system If the terminals look OK, go to step 9

  10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, and remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exterior-body-panels/#door-system__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) )
  11. Disconnect the 37P connector from the door multiplex control unit
  12. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system If the terminals look OK, go to step 13
  13. Scheme 25: Ignition Key Switch Test
  1. Remove the steering column upper and lower covers (see «STEERING COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__steering-column-cover-removalinstallation) )
  2. Disconnect the 6P connector (A)
  3. Check for continuity between terminals No l and No 2 There should be continuity with the key in the ignition switch There should be no continuity with the key removed
  4. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the steering lock assembly (see «STEERING LOCK REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/electronic-steering/#power-steering-system) )

Scheme 26: Ignition Key Light Test
  1. Remove the steering column upper and lower covers (see «STEERING COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__steering-column-cover-removalinstallation) )
  2. Disconnect the 6P connector (A)
  3. The LED should come on when power is connected to terminal No 6 and ground is connected to terminal No 5
  4. If the LED does not come on, replace the steering lock assembly (see «STEERING LOCK REPLACEMENT»(/acura/tl/iv-2008-2011/remont/electronic-steering/#power-steering-system) )
