Note. Check the vehicle battery condition first. Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- Turn the combination lighting switch to the parking light position.
- Check the illumination of the audio unit buttons. Are the buttons illuminated? YES -Intermittent failure; the audio unit is OK at this time. Check for loose or poor connections at audio unit connector A (20P). NO -Go to step 4.
- Check the illumination of several other buttons not related to the audio system. Are the buttons illuminated? YES -Go to step 5. NO -Troubleshoot the interior lights.
- Turn the ignition switch to Lock (0).
- Remove the audio-HVAC display module assembly (see «AUDIO-HVAC DISPLAY MODULE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iii-2006-2008/remont/entertainment-systems/#display-panel-control-system__audio-hvac-display-module-assembly-removalinstallation) ), and disconnect audio unit connector A (20P). NOTE: Eject all the discs before removing the audio unit to prevent damaging the CD/DVD player's load mechanism.
- Disconnect gauge control module connector B (18P) (see «REWRITING THE ODO DATA ON A NEW GAUGE CONTROL MODULE»(/acura/tl/iii-2006-2008/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#display-and-gauge-system__rewriting-the-odo-data-on-a) ).
- Check for continuity between audio unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 19 and gauge control module connector B (18P) terminal No. 9. Is there continuity? YES -Go to step 9. NO -Repair open in the wire between the gauge control module and the audio unit.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
- With the headlight switch still on, measure the voltage between audio unit connector A (20P) terminal No. 9 and body ground. Is there battery voltage? YES -Check the connections at the audio unit connector A (20P). If all connections are OK, replace the audio unit (see «AUDIO UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iii-2006-2008/remont/entertainment-systems/#audio-system__audio-unit-removalinstallation) ). NO -Repair open in the wire between the relay control module and the audio unit.
