Scheme 52: Turn Signal/Hazard Relay Input Test
- Remove the turn signal/hazard relay (A) from the under-dash fuse/relay box (B).
- Inspect the relay and fuse/relay box socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose, or corroded, repair them as necessary, and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 3.
- Make these input tests at the fuse/relay box. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the turn signal/hazard relay must be faulty; replace it. TURN SIGNAL/HAZARD RELAY INPUT TEST Cavity Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if result is not obtained 6 Under all conditions Check for voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 16 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire 1 Under all conditions Check for continuity to ground: There should be continuity. Poor ground (G503, G601) Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire 2 Connect the No. 6 terminal to the No. 2 terminal with a jumper wire. Check the turn signal lights operation: The left turn signal lights and indicator should come on. Blown bulb Poor ground (G301, G701) An open in the wire 3 Connect the No. 6 terminal to the No. 3 terminal with a jumper wire. Check the turn signal lights operation: The right turn signal lights and indicator should come on. Blown bulb Poor ground (G201, G604) An open in the wire 4 Ignition switch ON (II) and turn signal switch in Left position. Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 10 V. Poor ground (G503, G601) Faulty turn signal switch Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire Faulty combination switch control unit Faulty MICU 5 Ignition switch ON (II) and turn signal switch in Right position. Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 10 V. 4 Hazard warning switch ON Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 10 V. Poor ground (G503, G601) Blown No. 16 (15 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box Faulty under-dash fuse/relay box Faulty hazard warning switch An open in the wire Faulty MICU 5 Check for voltage to ground: There should be about 10 V. - Remove the upper panel (see «CENTER UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/tl/iii-2003-2006/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__center-upper-panel-removalinstallation) ).
- Disconnect the 5P connector (A) from the hazard warning switch.
- Remove the two mounting screws, then remove the hazard warning switch (B) from behind the upper panel.
- Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to 4 and (Scheme 56).
- If the continuity is not as specified, replace the bulb (C) or the hazard warning switch.
