Scheme 10
- Make sure you have the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system (if equipped).
- Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable, then disconnect the positive cable, and wait at least 3 minutes.
- Remove the left front door sill trim and left kick panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
- Disconnect the connectors from the fuse side of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box (A).
- Remove the mounting bolt and pull the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box away from the body.
- Disconnect the connectors and remove the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
- Carefully remove the relays by prying under the base of the relay. NOTE: Do not use pliers. Pliers will damage the relays, which could cause the engine to stall or not start.
Installation
Note. The MICU which is part of the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is a component of the immobilizer system. Because of this construction, the MICU must be registered when the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is replaced, or the vehicle will not start.
- Install the relays and connect the connectors to the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box, then install the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box in the reverse order of removal.
- Install the removed parts in the reverse order of removal.
- Connect the positive cable to the battery, then connect the negative cable to the battery.
- If the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is replaced, go to step 5. If the original driver's under-dash fuse/relay box is installed, go to step 10 .
- Connect the HDS to the data link connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON (II).
- Select the BODY ELECTRICAL, then enter the IMMOBILIZER SETUP.
- Select the REPLACE MPCS/MICU/IMOES, then select the suitable menu from the HDS indications.
- After registration, confirm that the vehicle will start.
- Do the steering column position memorization (see «STEERING COLUMN POSITION MEMORIZATION»(/acura/rl/ii-2004-2008/remont/manual-power-steering/#power-steering-system-electronic-power-steering-system__steering-column-position-memorization) ).
- Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and navigation system (if equipped), and set the clock.
- Confirm that all systems work properly.
