Note. Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces. To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion. Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts.

  1. Secure the hood in the wide open position (support rod in the lower hole).
  2. Relieve the fuel pressure (see «FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/fuel-system/#fuel-supply-system__fuel-pressure-relieving) ).
  3. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «DISCONNECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#battery__disconnection) ).
  4. Remove the battery.
  5. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  6. Remove the relay block (A) and harness clamps (B).
  7. Loosen the lower bolts (C), and remove the upper bolts (D), then remove the battery base (E).
  8. Remove the charge air cooler cover (A), then remove the charge air cooler cover front bracket (B).
  9. Remove the air bypass outlet pipe (A).
  10. Remove the battery cables (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box.
  11. Disconnect the harness connector (B).
  12. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) connectors (A) and the engine wire harness connector (B).
  13. Remove the harness clamps (C).
  14. Remove the under-hood fuse/relay box from the bracket.
  15. Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (A), then disconnect the fuel feed hose (B) (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING REMOVAL»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/fuel-system/#fuel-supply-system__fuel-linequick-connect-fitting-removal) ).
  16. Remove the heater hoses from the clamps (A), then remove the bolt (B) securing the heater hose clamp bracket.
  17. Disconnect the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), and vacuum hose (C).
  18. Remove the shift cable (see «SHIFT CABLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
  19. Remove the drive belt (see «DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system__drive-belt-removalinstallation) ).
  20. Remove the power steering (P/S) pump (A) without disconnecting the P/S hoses, then remove the P/S hose from the clamp (B).
  21. Wait until the engine is cool, then carefully remove the radiator cap.
  22. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.
  23. Remove the front wheels.
  24. Remove the splash shield.
  25. Loosen the drain plug in the radiator, and drain the engine coolant (see «COOLANT CHECK»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
  26. Drain the engine oil (see «ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/lubrication-system/#engine-lubrication) ).
  27. Drain the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
  28. Remove the three way catalytic converter (TWC).
  29. Separate the stabilizer links from the stabilizer bar (see «STABILIZER LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wheel-hubs/#front-suspension) ).
  30. Separate the knuckles from the lower arms (see step 2 under «LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wheel-hubs/#front-suspension__lower-ball-joint-replacement) ).
  31. Remove the driveshafts (see «DRIVESHAFT INSPECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/axle-shafts/#drivelineaxle) ). Coat all precision-finished surfaces with clean engine oil. Tie plastic bags over the driveshaft ends.
  32. Remove the propeller shaft from the transfer shaft flange (see «PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/axle-shafts/#drivelineaxle) ).
  33. Remove the bolt (A) securing the P/S fluid line bracket, and unclamp the P/S fluid line clamps (B) on the front subframe.
  34. Remove the bolts securing the steering gearbox mounting brackets.
  35. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  36. Remove the radiator (see «RADIATOR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
  37. Disconnect the A/C compressor clutch connector (A), then remove the A/C compressor (B) without disconnecting the A/C hoses.
  38. Disconnect the heater hoses.
  39. Disconnect the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cooler hoses (A), then plug the line and hose.
  40. Remove the ground cable (B).
  41. Attach the engine support eyelet with the support bolt.
  42. Remove the top corner clip (A) from the front grill on both sides. Place the engine support mount pads over the hood edge cushions (B), and align the pins with the clip hole (C). Remove the lids from both sides of the cowl cover. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T-12566), then attach the hook to the engine support eyelet. Tighten the wing nut (D) by hand to lift and support the engine/transmission assembly.
  43. Raise the lift to full height.
  44. Remove the lower torque rod.
  45. Make reference marks on the body across the marks (A) on the edge of the front subframe (B).
  46. Attach the subframe adapter (A) to the subframe and hang the belt of the subframe adapter over the front of the subframe, then secure the belt with its stop.
  47. Raise the jack and line up the slots in the arms with the bolt holes on the corner of the jack base, then attach them with bolts securely.
  48. Remove the subframe.
  49. Hang the steering gearbox with a rope.
  50. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  51. Remove the harness clamps (A), then remove the transmission mount (B).
  52. Install the transmission hanger bracket (P/N 21232-RCT-A00) (A) and washer (B) on the transmission.
  53. Attach the universal eyelet (A) to the drive belt auto-tensioner with the support bolt (B).
  54. Attach a chain hoist (A) to the universal eyelet (B), and the transmission hook (C). Lift up on the engine/transmission assembly until it's securely supported by the chain hoist, then remove the engine hanger.
  55. Remove the side engine mount bracket mounting bolt and nut.
  56. Check that the engine/transmission is completely free of vacuum hoses, fuel and coolant hoses, and electrical wiring.
  57. Slowly lower the engine/transmission assembly about 150 mm (6 in.). Check once again that all hoses and electrical wiring are disconnected and free from the engine/transmission, then lower it all the way.
  58. Disconnect the chain hoist from the engine/transmission assembly.
  59. Raise the vehicle all the way on the lift, then remove the engine/transmission assembly from under the vehicle.

  1. Install the accessory brackets and tighten their bolts to the specified torque.
  2. Raise the vehicle on the lift, and position the engine/transmission assembly under the vehicle. Lower the vehicle and attach the universal eyelet (A) and transmission hook (B) to the chain hoist, then lift the engine into position. NOTE: Reinstall the mounting bolts/support nuts in the sequence given in the following steps. Failure to follow this sequence may cause excessive noise and vibration, and reduce engine mount life.
  3. Attach the engine support eyelet with the support bolt.
  4. Place the engine support mount pads over the hood edge cushions (A), and align the pins with the clip hole (B). Remove the lids from both sides of the cowl cover. Install the engine support hanger (AAR-T-12566), then attach the hook to the engine support eyelet. Tighten the wing nut (C) by hand to lift and support the engine/transmission assembly.
  5. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  6. Tighten the new side engine mount bracket mounting bolt and nut.
  7. Remove the chain hoist.
  8. Remove the universal eyelet from the drive belt auto-tensioner.
  9. Remove the transmission hanger bracket (P/N 21232-RCT-A00).
  10. Install the transmission mount, then tighten the transmission mount stiffener mounting bolts (A) and the new transmission mount mounting bolts (B).
  11. Tighten the new bolt and nuts (C).
  12. Install the harness clamps (D).
  13. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.
  14. Using the subframe adapter (A) and a jack, raise the subframe up to the body.
  15. Loosely install the new 14 x 1.5 mm bolts (A), the 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (B), and the new 12 x 1.25 mm bolts (C).
  16. Align all reference marks (A) on the front subframe (B) with the body, then tighten the bolts on the front subframe to the specified torque.
  17. Remove the jack and front subframe adapter.
  18. Install the lower torque rod, then tighten the new lower torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
  19. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  20. Remove the special tools from the engine and vehicle, then install the top corner clip to the front grille on both sides.
  21. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.
  22. Raise the vehicle on the lift to full height.
  23. Install the bolts securing the steering gearbox mounting brackets.
  24. Install the power steering (P/S) fluid line bracket (A), and secure the hose with the hose clamps (B).
  25. Install the propeller shaft to the transfer companion flange (see «PROPELLER SHAFT INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/axle-shafts/#drivelineaxle) ).
  26. Install a new set ring on the end of each driveshaft, then install the driveshafts. Make sure each ring "clicks" into place in the differential and intermediate shaft.
  27. Connect the lower arms to the knuckles (see step 8 under «LOWER BALL JOINT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wheel-hubs/#front-suspension__lower-ball-joint-replacement) ).
  28. Connect the stabilizer links to the stabilizer bar (see «STABILIZER LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wheel-hubs/#front-suspension) ).
  29. Install the three way catalytic converter (TWC) (A). Use new gaskets (B) and new self-locking nuts (C).
  30. Install the splash shield.
  31. Install the front wheels.
  32. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  33. Install the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) cooler hoses (A), and secure the hoses with the clips (B) (see «ATF COOLER HOSE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
  34. Install the ground cable (C).
  35. Install the heater hoses.
  36. Install the A/C compressor (A), then connect the A/C compressor clutch connector (B).
  37. Install the radiator (see «RADIATOR REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
  38. Install the P/S pump (A), then install the P/S hose to the clamp (B).
  39. Install the drive belt (see «DRIVE BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/charging-system/#charging-system__drive-belt-removalinstallation) ).
  40. Install the shift cable (see «SHIFT CABLE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
  41. Install the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister hose (A), brake booster vacuum hose (B), and vacuum hose (C).
  42. Install heater hose clamp bracket (A), then install the heater hoses to the clamps (B).
  43. Connect the fuel feed hose (A) (see «FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/fuel-system/#fuel-supply-system__fuel-linequick-connect-fitting-installation) ), then install the quick-connect fitting cover (B).
  44. Install the under-hood fuse/relay box to the bracket.
  45. Connect the powertrain control module (PCM) connectors (A) and engine wire harness connector (B).
  46. Install the harness clamps (C).
  47. Install the battery cables (A) to the under-hood fuse/relay box.
  48. Connect the harness connector (B).
  49. Install the air bypass outlet pipe (A).
  50. Install the charge air cooler cover front bracket (A), then install the charge air cooler cover (B).
  51. Install the battery base (A), then install the harness clamps (B) and relay block (C).
  52. Install the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  53. Install the battery. Clean the battery posts and cable terminals, then assemble them, and apply grease to prevent corrosion.
  54. Move the shift lever to each gear, and verify that the A/T gear position indicator follows the transmission range switch.
  55. Inspect for fuel leaks: Turn the ignition switch ON (II) (do not operate the starter) so the fuel pump runs for about 2 seconds and pressurizes the fuel line. Repeat this operation two or three times, then check for fuel leakage at any point in the fuel line.
  56. Refill the engine with engine oil (see step 4 under «ENGINE OIL REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/lubrication-system/#engine-lubrication) ).
  57. Refill the transmission with ATF (see «ATF REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/automatic-trans/#automatic-transmission) ).
  58. Refill the radiator with engine coolant, and bleed air from the cooling system with the heater valve open (see step 6 under «COOLANT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#cooling-system) ).
  59. Do the PCM reset procedure (see «HDS CLEAR COMMAND»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems__hds-clear-command) ).
  60. Do the crankshaft position (CKP) pattern clear/CKP pattern learn procedure (see «HDS CLEAR COMMAND»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/auxiliary-emission-control-systems/#fuel-and-emissions-systems__hds-clear-command) ).
  61. Inspect the idle speed (see «IDLE SPEED INSPECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/engine-control-systems/#idle-control-system__idle-speed-inspection) ).
  62. Inspect the ignition timing (see «IGNITION TINNING INSPECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/ignition-system/#ignition-system) ).
  63. Check the wheel alignment (see «WHEEL ALIGNMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/wheel-alignment/#front-suspension-and-rear-suspension-alignment__wheel-alignment) ).
  64. Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation).

  1. Support the engine with a jack and wood block under the oil pan.
  2. Remove the torque rod stiffener (A) and upper torque rod (B).
  3. Remove the ground cable (A), then remove the side engine mount bracket (B).
  4. Remove the side engine mount stiffener (A), then remove the side engine mount (B).
  5. Install the side engine mount, then install the side engine mount stiffener.
  6. Install the side engine mount bracket (A), then loosely tighten the new bolt and nut (B), and loosely tighten the bolt (C).
  7. Install the ground cable (D).
  8. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  9. Loosen the transmission mounting bolt and nuts (A).
  10. Raise the lift to full height.
  11. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  12. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  13. Tighten the side engine mount mounting bolts and nut.
  14. Tighten the transmission mounting bolt and nuts.
  15. Raise the lift to full height.
  16. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt.
  17. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  18. Install the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  19. Install the upper torque rod (A) and torque rod stiffener (B), and tighten the new stiffener mounting bolts (C), then tighten the new upper torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

  1. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  2. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  3. Remove the heater hoses from the clamps (A), then remove the bolt (B) securing the heater hose clamp bracket.
  4. Support the transmission with a jack and wood block under the transmission.
  5. Remove the harness clamps (A), then remove the transmission mount stiffener (B) and transmission mount (C).
  6. Install the transmission mount with the new mounting bolts (D), then install the transmission mount stiffener and harness clamps.
  7. Loosely tighten the new bolt and nuts (E).
  8. Raise the lift to full height.
  9. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  10. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  11. Tighten the transmission mounting bolt and nuts.
  12. Raise the lift to full height.
  13. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt.
  14. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  15. Install heater hose clamp bracket (A), then install the heater hoses to the clamps (B).
  16. Install the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  17. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.

  1. Loosen the upper torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  2. Raise the lift to full height.
  3. Remove the lower torque rod (A).
  4. Install the lower torque rod, then tighten the new lower torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
  5. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  6. Tighten the upper torque rod mounting bolt.

  1. Remove the torque rod stiffener (A) and upper torque rod (B).
  2. Install the upper torque rod and torque rod stiffener, and tighten the new stiffener mounting bolts (C), then tighten the new upper torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.

  1. Support the engine with a jack and wood block under the oil pan.
  2. Remove the torque rod stiffener (A) and upper torque rod (B).
  3. Remove the ground cable (A), then remove the side engine mount bracket (B).
  4. Install the side engine mount bracket, then loosely tighten the new bolt and nut (C), and loosely tighten the bolt (D).
  5. Install the ground cable.
  6. Remove the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  7. Loosen the transmission mounting bolt and nuts (A).
  8. Raise the lift to full height.
  9. Loosen the lower torque rod mounting bolt (A).
  10. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  11. Tighten the side engine mount mounting bolts and nut.
  12. Tighten the transmission mounting bolt and nuts.
  13. Raise the lift to full height.
  14. Tighten the lower torque rod mounting bolt.
  15. Lower the vehicle on the lift.
  16. Install the air cleaner housing assembly (see «AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/mechanical/#intake-air-system) ).
  17. Install the upper torque rod (A) and torque rod stiffener (B), and tighten the new stiffener mounting bolts (C), then tighten the new upper torque rod mounting bolts in the numbered sequence shown.
