Test

SRS components are located in the area. Review the SRS component locations (see COMPONENT LOCATION INDEX ) and precautions and procedures (see PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES ) before performing repairs or servicing.

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «DISCONNECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#battery__disconnection) ).
  2. Remove the steering column covers (see «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__column-cover-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnect the 7P connector (A) from the ignition switch (B).
  4. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to (Scheme 2).
  5. If the continuity checks do not agree with the table, replace the ignition switch (see «TEST»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/ignition-switchsteering-lock/#ignition-switch__test) ).
  6. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped). Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation).

Replacement

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure (see «DISCONNECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#battery__disconnection) ).
  2. Remove the steering column covers (see «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__column-cover-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnect the 7P connector (A) from the ignition switch (B).
  4. Remove the two screws and the ignition switch.
  5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  6. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure (see «RECONNECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#battery__reconnection) ).
