Dashboard Side Trim Removal/Installation

Scheme 30: Dashboard Side Trim Removal/Installation
  1. Using a trim tool, pry up on the front bottom edge of the dashboard side trim (A) to release the clips. Gently pull out the trim to detach the clips, then remove the trim.
  2. Install the trim in the reverse order of removal, and note these items
  1. If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones.
  2. Push the clips into place securely.

Left Driver's Dashboard Panel Removal/Installation

Scheme 31: Left Driver's Dashboard Panel Removal/Installation
  1. Remove the dashboard side trim, left side (see «DASHBOARD SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__dashboard-side-trim-removalinstallation) )
  2. Gently pull out the left driver's dashboard panel (A) to release the clip and hook (B), then remove the panel.
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clip and hook into place securely.

Passenger's Dashboard Trim Panel Removal/Installation

  1.   1.   2. Release the tilt/telescopic lock lever, and adjust the steering wheel to full tilt down position and to the full telescopic out position.
  3. Remove the screws (A).
  4. Gently pull out the instrument panel (B) to release the clips (C), then remove the panel.
  5. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Center Panel Removal/Installation

  2. Remove the center panel (A). Remove the screws (B). Gently pull out the panel to release the clips (C, D), then remove the panel. Disconnect the climate switch connectors (E), hazard warning switch connector (F) and audio switch connectors (G).
  3. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.

Driver's Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation

  1. Remove the driver's dashboard undercover (A). Turn the lock knob (B) 90°. Gently pull down the right side edge to detach the clips.
  2. Install the undercover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Driver's Switch Panel Removal/Installation

Scheme 38: Driver's Switch Panel Removal/Installation
  1. Remove the driver's switch panel (A). Pull out the bottom of the panel to release the clips, and pull it down to release the hooks (B). Disconnect the power mirror switch connector (C) and VSA OFF switch connector (D).
  2. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.

Dashboard Side Vent Removal/Installation

  1. Remove the driver's switch panel (see «DRIVER'S DASHBOARD UNDERCOVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__drivers-dashboard-undercover-removalinstallation) ). For of the right side outlet: Detach the hook of the glove box damper and release the glove box stop on each side from the dashboard by pushing them inside (see step 2 under «Glove Box Removal/Installation»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__glove-box-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Push the back of the dashboard side vent (A) by hand from the driver's switch panel or glove box opening to release the hooks (B) on the side vent. Gently pull out the side vent to remove it.
  3. Install the side vent in the reverse order of removal.

Passenger's Dashboard Undercover Removal/Installation

  1. Remove the passenger's dashboard undercover (A). Gently pull down the front edge to detach the clips. Pull the cover away to release the pins (B) of the cover from the holders.
  2. Install the undercover in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: If the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Glove Box Removal/Installation

  1. Remove the bolts.
  2. Detach the hook (A) of the glove box damper. While holding the glove box (B), push in on the stops (C) to release them from the glove box.
  3. Install the glove box in the reverse order of removal.

  1.   2. Detach the clip of the glove box damper (A) by pinching it to release from inside the dashboard, then remove the damper.
  3. Install the damper in the reverse order of removal.

Glove Box Striker Replacement

  1. Detach the hook of the glove box damper and release the glove box stop on each side from the dashboard by pushing them inside (see step 2 on «GLOVE BOX REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#dashboard-instrument-panel__glove-box-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Remove the screws, then remove the glove box striker (A).
  3. Install the striker in the reverse order of removal.

  2. Disconnect the front passenger's airbag 4P connector and three mounting nuts of the front passenger's airbag (see «FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/airbag/#srs-supplemental-restraint-system) ).
  3. Remove the screws.
  4. Detach the clips along the front edge of the upper dashboard panel (A). Gently pull up the panel to release the hooks from the dashboard (B).
  5. If necessary, remove the front passenger's airbag from the upper dashboard panel (see step 5 under «FRONT PASSENGER'S AIRBAG REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/airbag/#srs-supplemental-restraint-system) ).
  6. Install the panel in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Push the clips into place securely.

Column Cover Removal/Installation

Scheme 48: Column Cover Removal/Installation
  1. Release the tilt/telescopic lock lever, and adjust the steering wheel to full tilt down position and to the full telescopic out position.
  2. Turn the steering wheel to left and remove the screw (A). Release the hook (B) of the upper column cover (C) while pushing the cover from the front side.
  3. Turn the steering wheel to the right and remove the screw (D). Release the hook (E) of the upper column cover is in the same as the step 2.
  4. Separate the upper column cover from the lower column cover by pulling up it lightly. Release the hooks (F) of the cover to remove it from the lower column cover (G).
  5. Remove the screws (H, I), and remove the lower column cover from the steering column.
  6. Install the covers in the reverse order of removal, and push the hooks into place securely.

  3. Using a KTC trim tool, pry up on the front bottom edge of the dashboard side lid (A) to release the clips. Gently pull out to release the hooks (B), then remove the lid. Repeat on the other side of the dashboard.
  4. Remove the screws, then remove the GPS antenna bracket (A) (with navigation system), then push the antenna out through the hole in the dashboard. Center
  5. Detach the wire harness clip (A) from the center upper dashboard panel opening.
  6. Detach the wire harness clips (A) from center panel opening. Passenger's side
  7. Disconnect the antenna 2P connector (A), and detach the wire harness clips (B) from the glove box opening.
  8. Carefully pry the glove box light (C) from the inside of the dashboard, and detach the wire harness clips (D).
  9. From the front of the dashboard (A), remove the screws (B) and bolts (C).
  10. Lift up on the dashboard (A) to release it from the guide pins (B), then carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening. NOTE: Lay the dashboard on its front or back. Do not rest it on the lower console opening or you may damage it.
  11. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly. Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped). Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation). Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.

  1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure(see «DISCONNECTION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/body-electrical/#battery__disconnection) , and wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
  2.   3. From under the dash, disconnect the left side wire harness connectors (A), engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), are the roof wire harness connector (C).
  4. From under the dash, disconnect the driver's door wire harness connectors (A), and the left TPMS subharness connector (B). Center
  5. From under the dash, disconnect the A/T gear position indicator panel light/park pin switch connector (A), A/T shift lock solenoid connector (B), SRS control unit connector A (C), yaw rate-lateral acceleration sensor connector (D), SRS wire harness connector (E).
  6. From under the dash, disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit connector (A). Using a TORX T30 bit, remove the ground bolt (B), and release the wire harness clips (C). Passenger's side
  7. From under the dash, disconnect the XM receiver connector or AcuraLink control unit connectors (with navigation system) (A), engine compartment wire harness connectors (B), antenna connector (C), and the right side wire harness connectors (D).
  8. From under the dash, disconnect the right TPMS subharness connector (A), and the front passenger's door wire harness connectors (B).
  9. From under the dash, disconnect the climate control unit connector (A), and release the wire harness clip (B).
  10. Detach the clip, then remove the rear heater joint (A).
  11. Remove the bolts (A, B), and remove the center brackets (C) from the dashboard center frame (D).
  12. Remove the bolts of the A/T lever bracket (A), then separate the A/T lever bracket from the center frame (B) by moving to the driver's side. Do not disconnect of the A/T shift cable.
  13. From the driver's side: Remove the bolt (A) from brake pedal bracket, and remove the nut (B) from the body.
  14. From passenger's side: Remove the bolts (C) from the holes of the steering hanger beam.
  15. Remove the caps (D), then remove the bolts (E, F), and lift up on the dashboard/steering hanger beam (G) to release it from the guide pins (H) on the body. NOTE: Before removing the dashboard/steering hanger beam, make sure all the harnesses have been disconnected.
  16. Carefully remove the dashboard/steering hanger beam through the front door opening or you may damage it.
  17. Install the dashboard/steering hanger beam in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Reinstall the center brackets on the center frame, and slightly tighten the mounting bolts. Reinstall the dashboard on the body. After tightening the dashboard mounting bolts and nut, tighten the center bracket mounting bolts and center frame mounting bolts. Make sure the dashboard/steering hanger beam fits onto the guide pins correctly. Apply liquid thread lock to the bolts securing the center bracket and the dashboard before reinstallation. Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched. Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly. Reconnect the negative cable to the battery. Enter the anti-theft codes for the audio system and the navigation system (if equipped). Set the clock (on vehicles without navigation). Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
