Hood Opener Cable Replacement

  1. Remove these items: Front bumper (see «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers__front-bumper-removalinstallation) ) Front inner fender (see «FRONT INNER FENDER REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#fenderwell__front-inner-fender-replacement) ) Kick panel (see step 3 under «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) )
  2. Disconnect the hood opener cable (A) from the hood latch (B) (see «HOOD LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ), and remove the hood release handle (C) (see «HOOD RELEASE HANDLE REPLACEMENT TAILGATE LATCH REPLACEMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/door-locks-anti-theft-systems/#openers) ). Take care not to kink the cable.
  3. Using a clip remover, detach the clips, release the hood opener cable from the clip, and remove the grommet (D) from the body, then remove the hood opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Route the cable through the hole (I) in the body. Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.

Fuel Fill Door Opener Cable Replacement

  1.   2. Pull the carpet back as needed.
  3. Release the opener cable (A) from the clip (B) and hooks (C) of the wire harness bands. Remove the wire harness band (D) and cushion tape (E).
  4. While pinching the hooks (A) from inside the vehicle, remove the grommet (B) from the body.
  5. Release the hook (A), then remove the grommet (B) from the fuel fill door latch (C).
  6. Remove the fuel fill door opener cable from the vehicle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  7. Install the opener cable in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Align the marks (A) on the opener cable (B) with the cable clip (C), wire harness band (D) and cushion tapes (E) as shown. Replace any damaged clips, and replace the cushion tape.

  1.   2. Remove the bolts, then remove the fuel fill door opener (A) from the body.
  3. Disconnect the fuel fill door opener cable (A), then remove the opener (B). Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the opener in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the fuel fill door opens properly and locks securely. Fix at the original position in the outer end of cable on the fuel fill door opener securely.

  1. Remove the front bumper (see «FRONT BUMPER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#bumpers__front-bumper-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Detach the clips, then remove the hood lock cover (A).
  3. Disconnect and detach the hood latch switch connector (A).
  4. Remove the bolts, then remove the hood latch (B) from the body, and disconnect the hood opener cable (C) from the hood latch.
  5. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Check if the clips are damaged or stress-whitened, and if necessary, replace them with new ones. Apply multipurpose grease to each location of the hood latch indicated by the arrows. Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly and hood latch switch connector is plugged in properly. Adjust the hood latch alignment (see «HOOD ADJUSTMENT»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exterior-body-panels/#hood) ). Make sure the hood opens properly and locks securely.

Scheme 21: Hood Release Handle Replacement Tailgate Latch Replacement
  1. Remove the kick panel (see step 3 under «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - DOOR AREAS»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-door-areas) ).
  2. Remove the bolt, then remove the hood release handle (A) from the body.
  3. Disconnect the hood opener cable (B) from the hood release handle. Take care not to kink the cable.
  4. Install the hood release handle in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the hood opener cable is connected properly. Make sure the hood opens properly.

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. If the tailgate latch doesn't open by pulling the tailgate handle or using the keyless entry transmitter, remove the maintenance lid (A) from the tailgate lower trim panel, then turn the emergency lever (B) clockwise as shown.

  1. Remove the tailgate lower trim panel (see step 4 under «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - TAILGATE AREA»(/acura/rdx/i-2006-2009/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-tailgate-area) ).
  2. Disconnect the actuator connector (A) and latch switch connector (B), then remove the bolts.
  3. Pull the tailgate latch (C) out, then remove the latch.
  4. Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items: Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly. Make sure the tailgate opens properly and locks securely.
