Self-diagnostic Function
The BSI system has a self-diagnostic function. If the self-diagnostic function detects a malfunction, the BSI system stops control, turns on the BSI indicator, and stores DTCs.
The BSI control unit uses input from the BSI radar units. The BSI radar units also detects its own errors, and it signals the BSI control unit if an error is detected.
The BSI radar units are installed in the rear bumper on both sides of the vehicle. They detect other vehicles as they approach your vehicle from the rear sides, and they send this information to the BSI control unit.
