Scheme 1

Scheme 1: Spare Tire Hoist Replacement

Remove the spare tire.
Remove the bolts, then remove the spare tire hoist (A). Take care not to bend the cable (B).
Install the hoist in the reverse order of removal.

Rear Wheelhouse Gusset Replacement

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

Scheme 3: Rear Wheelhouse Gusset Replacement

Remove these items: Rear side trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-side-area) ) Third row seat (see «THIRD ROW SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/seats/#seats__third-row-seat-removalinstallation) )
Pull the carpet back as needed.
Remove the rear wheelhouse gusset (A). Remove the ground bolt (B) and release the harness clip (C). Remove the bolts (D). From outside the vehicle, remove the nuts (E).
Install the gusset in the reverse order of removal.

Cargo Lid Support Replacement

Note. Put on gloves to protect your hands. Take care not to scratch the body and related parts.

Scheme 4: Cargo Lid Support Replacement

Remove these items: Rear side trim panel, both sides (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-rear-side-area) ) Rear side trim panel support bracket (see step 11 on «REAR SIDE TRIM PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__rear-side-trim-panel-removalinstallation) ) Cargo rear trim panel (see «TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - CARGO AREA»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#interior-trim__trim-removalinstallation-cargo-area) ) XM receiver (see «ACURALINK CONTROL UNIT (XM RECEIVER) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/entertainment-systems/#audio-system__acuralink-control-unit-xm-receiver-removalinstallation) ) Active damper control unit (see «ACTIVE DAMPER CONTROL UNIT REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/electronic-suspension/#active-damper-system) )
Remove the clips fastening the rear differential breather box (see «REAR DIFFERENTIAL BREATHER BOX AND HOSE REPLACEMENT»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/differentials-drive-axles/#rear-differential) ).
Remove the bolts, then remove the cargo lid support (A).
Install the support in the reverse order of removal.

After removing the subframe mounting bolts and front subframe stiffener mounting bolts, be sure to replace them with new ones.

Scheme 5

Scheme 5: Front Subframe Torque

Note. After mounting the subframe and brackets loosely, align all of the installation reference holes in the subframe, in the subframe front bracket, and in the body using a screwdriver or tapered punch as a guide, then tighten the bolts. After reinstalling all removed parts, check and adjust the front wheel alignment (see WHEEL ALIGNMENT ).

Note. When installing, align both installation reference holes in the subframe with the reference holes in the body using a screwdriver or tapered punch as a guide. After removing the subframe mounting bolts, be sure to replace them with new ones.
