Power Tilt/Telescopic Steering Control Unit Input Test

Note. Before testing the power till/telescopic steering control unit, troubleshoot the multiplex integrated control unit first, using B-CAN System Diagnosis Test Mode A (see TROUBLESHOOTING - B-CAN SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS TEST MODE A ).

  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  2. Remove the steering column cover (see «COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exteriorinterior-trim/#dashboard__column-cover-removalinstallation) ).
  3. Disconnected the 16P connector (A) and 8P connector (B) from the power till/telescopic steering control unit (C).
  4. Inspect the connector and socket terminals to be sure they are all making good contact. If the terminals are bent, loose or corroded, repair them as necessary and recheck the system. If the terminals look OK, go to step 5.
  5. Reconnect the connectors to the power tilt/telescopic steering control unit, and make these input tests at the connectors. If any test indicates a problem, find and correct the cause, then recheck the system. If all the input tests prove OK, the control unit must be faulty; replace it. WIRE CAVITY CHART Cavity Wire Test condition Test: Desired result Possible cause if desired result is not obtained A8 BLK Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be less than 0.5 V. Poor ground (G503, G506) An open in the wire B1 A1 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. No. 4 (40 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box Blown No. 7 (10 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire A9 YEL Ignition switch ON (II) Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 21 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire B3 WHT Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. Blown No. 2 (OP2) (40 A) fuse in the main under-hood fuse box Blown No. 28 (20 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box An open in the wire B5 GRN Under all conditions Measure the voltage to ground: There should be battery voltage. 1. Remove the driver's door panel (see «FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/exterior-body-panels/#doors__front-door-panel-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 10P connector (A) from the driving position memory switch (B).
  3. Remove the two screws, then remove the switch from the door panel.
  4. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
  5. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

Scheme 102

Scheme 102
  1. Remove the power seat adjustment switch knobs (A) and recline cover from the driver's power seat (see «FRONT SEAT DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/seats/#seats__front-seat-disassemblyreassembly) ), then remove the two screws and the power seat adjustment switch (B).
  2. Disconnect the 12P connector from the power seat adjustment switch.
  3. Reinstall the adjustment switch knobs to the switch.
  4. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
  5. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.

Scheme 104

Scheme 104
  1. Remove the driver's seat (see «FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/seats/#seats__front-seat-removalinstallation) ).
  2. Disconnect the 2P connector from each power seat motor. NOTE: All connectors are terminal side of male terminals.
  3. Test each motor by connecting power and ground according to the table. When the motor stops running, disconnect battery power immediately.
  4. If the motor does not run or fails to run smoothly, replace the seat linkage assembly (see «FRONT SEAT LINKAGE DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/seats/#seats__front-seat-linkage-disassemblyreassembly) ). NOTE: The slide and up-down motors are not available separately because of the part of seat linkage, refer to the seat linkage disassembly/ reassembly (see «FRONT SEAT LINKAGE DISASSEMBLY/REASSEMBLY»(/acura/mdx/ii-2006-2010/remont/seats/#seats__front-seat-linkage-disassemblyreassembly) ).
