DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENTS

Note. Check for belt damage. If necessary, replace belt. "New belt" refers to a belt which has been used less than five minutes on a running engine. "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for five minutes or more.

Deflection Method

  1. Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lbs.), and measure the deflection between the A/C compressor and the crankshaft pulley.
  2. Adjust belt to specifications. See «A/C COMPRESSOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - DEFLECTION METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
  3. Loosen the adjust pulley bracket pivot bolt and the adjusting bolt lock nut of the A/C compressor belt.
  4. Turn the adjusting bolt to get proper belt tension, then retighten the adjust pulley bracket pivot bolt and the adjusting bolt lock nut.
  5. Recheck the deflection of the A/C compressor belt.

Tension Gauge Method

  1. Attach the belt tension gauge to the A/C compressor belt, and measure the tension of the belt.
  2. Adjust belt to specifications. See «A/C COMPRESSOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - TENSION GAUGE METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
  5. Recheck the tension of the A/C compressor belt.
  1. Apply a force of 98 N (10kg, 22 lb), and measure the deflection between the alternator and crankshaft pulley.
  2. Adjust belt to specifications. See «ALTERNATOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - DEFLECTION METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
  3. Loosen the alternator adjusting nut and mounting nut.
  4. Move the alternator to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the adjusting nut and mounting nut to the specified torque.
  5. Recheck the tension of the belt. If necessary adjust the P/S pump belt and A/C compressor belt.

Scheme 2
  1. Attach the belt tension gauge to the belt and measure the tension. Follow the gauge manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Adjust belt to specifications. See «ALTERNATOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - TENSION GAUGE METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
  3. Loosen the alternator adjusting nut and mounting nut.
  4. Move the alternator to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the adjusting nut and mounting nut to the specified torques.
  5. Recheck the tension of the belt. If necessary adjust the P/S pump belt and A/C compressor belt.
