DRIVE BELT ADJUSTMENTS
Note. Check for belt damage. If necessary, replace belt. "New belt" refers to a belt which has been used less than five minutes on a running engine. "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for five minutes or more.
Deflection Method
- Apply a force of 98 N (10 kg, 22 lbs.), and measure the deflection between the A/C compressor and the crankshaft pulley.
- Adjust belt to specifications. See «A/C COMPRESSOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - DEFLECTION METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
- Loosen the adjust pulley bracket pivot bolt and the adjusting bolt lock nut of the A/C compressor belt.
- Turn the adjusting bolt to get proper belt tension, then retighten the adjust pulley bracket pivot bolt and the adjusting bolt lock nut.
- Recheck the deflection of the A/C compressor belt.
Scheme 1
Tension Gauge Method
- Attach the belt tension gauge to the A/C compressor belt, and measure the tension of the belt.
- Adjust belt to specifications. See «A/C COMPRESSOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - TENSION GAUGE METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
- Recheck the tension of the A/C compressor belt.
- Apply a force of 98 N (10kg, 22 lb), and measure the deflection between the alternator and crankshaft pulley.
- Adjust belt to specifications. See «ALTERNATOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - DEFLECTION METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
- Loosen the alternator adjusting nut and mounting nut.
- Move the alternator to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the adjusting nut and mounting nut to the specified torque.
- Recheck the tension of the belt. If necessary adjust the P/S pump belt and A/C compressor belt.
Scheme 2
- Attach the belt tension gauge to the belt and measure the tension. Follow the gauge manufacturer's instructions.
- Adjust belt to specifications. See «ALTERNATOR BELT ADJUSTMENT SPECIFICATIONS - TENSION GAUGE METHOD»(/acura/integra/iii-1993-2001/remont/accessory-drive-belts/#drive-belt-routing-adjustment) .
- Loosen the alternator adjusting nut and mounting nut.
- Move the alternator to obtain the proper belt tension, then retighten the adjusting nut and mounting nut to the specified torques.
- Recheck the tension of the belt. If necessary adjust the P/S pump belt and A/C compressor belt.
