- Ignition off
- Connect the breakout box
- Control module disconnected.
- Switch off all equipment that takes power from the battery (for example, courtesy lighting, radio etc.). Check the resistance between the battery negative terminal and breakout box terminal #16 and between the battery negative terminal and breakout box terminal #46. The resistance must be 0 ohms. Check the ground terminal 1/1 (battery negative terminal) if the resistance is incorrect. Check for an open-circuit and contact resistance. Check the cable between ground terminal 31/95 (left-hand wheel arch) and brake control module terminals #16 and #46. Check for an open-circuit. Check for contact resistance. Other information To connect the breakout box, see «CONNECTING THE BREAKOUT BOX, BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (BCM)»(ref-476728-S17691186912012060500000)

- Ignition off
- Expose the ABS control module. See «PREPARATIONS FOR REPLACEMENT»(ref-494739-S02675075232012081600000)
- Disconnect the ABS control module: First press in the catches on the rear of the cover (towards the wheel arch). Then carefully turn the cover upwards so that the lock catches release
- Check the control module and control module connectors to ensure that the male and female terminals are undamaged and secure (cannot be pressed in). Check that the cables to the female terminals are secured to the terminal pins
- In particular, check the terminal pins relevant to the diagnostic trouble code (DTC) / symptom. See «SIGNAL SPECIFICATION, ABS CONTROL MODULE»(ref-494740-S18846566342012081600000)
- Connect adapter see «9511354»(ref-460875-S19266132832012040200000) to the control module connector (wiring side). Connect breakout box see «9511428»(ref-460875-S19859279082012033000000) to the adapter
- The breakout box is designed to facilitate reading off the control module input and output signals when the control module is connected; and cable and component resistance when the control module is disconnected. The use of a breakout box reduces the risk of accidental short-circuits and damage to the connector pins.
