REMOVING THE VIBRATION DAMPER

Remove the 4 screws. Use the crankshaft center nut as a counterhold.

Install counterhold see 9995433 . Remove the center nut.

Remove counterhold see 9995433 .

Work the vibration damper loose.

Scheme 836: REMOVING THE TIMING BELT

Slacken off the center screw for the belt tensioner slightly.

Hold the center screw in place. Turn the belt tensioner eccentric clockwise to 10 o'clock using a 6mm Allen key.

Remove the timing belt from the timing gear pulley for the camshafts.

Remove the timing belt.

CAUTIONThe crankshaft must not rotate.

Use puller see 9995304 and two 45 mm M8 screws with washers.

Pull off the timing gear pulley.

Scheme 838: REMOVING THE BELT TENSIONER AND IDLER PULLEY

Remove the belt tensioner and idler pulley.

Check the rolling surface and the bearings.

Check for any noise. Check for any play in the bearings.

Check that the rolling surfaces are smooth and clean.

Remove the 4 screws. Use the crankshaft center nut as a counterhold.

Install counterhold see 9995433 . Remove the center nut.

Remove counterhold 999 5433.

Work / pull the auxiliaries belt pulley loose.

Scheme 839: REMOVING THE TIMING BELT

Slacken off the center screw for the belt tensioner slightly.

Hold the center screw in place. Turn the eccentric on the tensioner counter-clockwise to the 10 o'clock position using a 6mm Allen key.

Unhook and remove the timing belt.

CAUTIONDo not turn the camshafts or the crankshaft when the timing belt has been removed.

Scheme 840: REMOVING THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

Use puller see 9995304 and two 50 mm M10 screws with washers.

Pull off the timing gear pulley.

CAUTIONThe crankshaft must not rotate.

INSTALLING THE VIBRATION DAMPER

Install the vibration damper. Use counterhold see 9995433 .

Tighten the center nut to 180 Nm .

Remove counterhold 999 5433.

Tighten the four screws. Tighten to 25 Nm . Angle tighten 30° . Use the crankshaft center screw as a counterhold.

Remove the 4 screws. Use the crankshaft center nut as a counterhold.

Install the counterhold see 9995433 and remove the center nut.

Remove counterhold 999 5433.

Work the vibration damper loose.

Scheme 841: REMOVING THE TIMING BELT

Slacken off the center screw for the belt tensioner slightly.

Hold the center screw secure. Turn the belt tensioner eccentric clockwise with a 6mm Allen key to 10 o'clock.

Remove the timing belt from the timing gear pulley for the camshafts.

Remove the timing belt.
