Power Steering Control Module (Pscm) and Steering Wheel Angle Sensor Module (Sas) - Specifications: Other Volvo XC70 II

Electronic Steering ~1671 words

POWER SUPPLY

Measurement range 0-20.4 V.

Shows the current voltage of the 30-feed to Power Steering Control Module (PSCM).

BATTERY VOLTAGE, (CEM)

Measurement range 0-30 V.

Indicates the present battery voltage from the central electronic module (CEM). Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the battery voltage signal via the CAN network.

POWER CONSUMPTION PUMP MOTOR

Measurement range 0-127.5 A.

Indicates the present power consumption of the pump motor. The power consumption is measured indirectly at the output for the power stage for the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). The power consumption can vary considerably depending on the present operating situation.

HINT: In extreme cold power consumption may be considerably higher. If steering takes place, the power consumption will increase significantly.

PUMP MOTOR SPEED, ACTUAL VALUE

Measurement range 0-5400 RPM.

Shows the pump motor's current speed, the speed is measured by speed sensors integrated in the pump motor with the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM). When the vehicle turns or is at speed, the speed must correspond with the parameter "Pump motor Speed Set-point value". A difference of approximately 30 RPM between Actual and Set-point value is normal. In extreme cold, much greater differences between the Actual and Set-point value can occur.

Note. When the vehicle is stationary, the combustion engine idling and no steering wheel movement is performed, the Actual and Set-point value can differ by more than 30 RPM, this depends on vehicle configuration, such as start/stop, this is normal. When the combustion engine is off the Actual value is 0 RPM and Set point value between 2300 - 2500 RPM

PUMP MOTOR SPEED, DESIRED VALUE

Measurement range 0-5400 RPM.

Shows Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) requested pump motor RPM. The requested pump motor RPM is indirectly the control of power steering action that the power steering module considers optimal for the current driving situation.

STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT SPEED

Measurement range 0-1020° / s.

Shows the current steering wheel angle speed. The Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the steering wheel angle speed signal from the Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) via the CAN network. The Steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) registers the number of degrees/second as the steering wheel angle changes during a steering movement.

HINT: When the engine is running and no steering wheel movement is taking place, the value must be 0° / s. A rapid steering wheel movement should produce a high value, while a slower steering wheel movement should produced a low value.

TEMPERATURE IN THE CONTROL MODULE

Measurement range -40- +215 °C.

Shows the current temperature that the internal thermistor in Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) registers.

HINT: Diagnostic trouble code will be set if the temperature exceeds 125 °C or if the temperature is below -40 °C. High outdoor temperature or engine compartment temperature combined with "hard driving" can cause diagnostic trouble code to be set.

VEHICLE SPEED

Measurement range 0-255 km/h.

Shows current vehicle speed. Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) receives the speed signal via CAN-net, from Brake control module (BCM).

INFORMATION

The steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS) must be initiated before values can be read off. Initiation is carried out by turning the steering wheel more than 5° in either direction.

The value displays the steering wheel angle in degrees.

0° = Steering wheel in the straight forward position

1° to 500° = Steering wheel angle

The value displays the steering wheel turning speed in °/second.

Measurement range: 0 - 255°/second

STEERING DIRECTION

The value indicates in which direction the steering wheel is turned.

The values displayed are right or left .

The value indicates battery voltage at the steering wheel angle sensor module (SAS).

Measurement range: 5 - 15 V
