ADJUSTMENTS
Note. Adjustment procedures for S70, S90, V70 and V90 are not available.
CHECKING ADJUSTMENT (C70)
Check that window makes a good seal by folding a piece of paper in half and closing door with paper in upper seal with window rolled up (or roll rear side window up with convertible top in UP position). Pull the paper out carefully. Paper should be hard to pull out but not so hard as to rip the paper. Verify that window is sealing, using same technique at different parts of window. Sealing strip between front door and rear side window glass should contact each other partially at top of glass when door is closed to first latch position. Sealing strip should contact completely when door is shut all the way. Adjust if necessary. See following adjustment procedures.
VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT (FRONT DOORS - C70)
- When door is closed, window is pressed against the weather strip and upward. Height can only be adjusted with adjustment screw at rear slider ("A") in cassette mechanism. (Scheme 1)
- Height adjustment screw at rear slider should be in the same position before cables were replaced. With door open, run window to up position to where adjustment screw begins to contact stop at top of door. Adjust front slider ("B") so window is level with molding on mirror and just under trim strip.
- Mark cable at bottom of front slider ("B") with felt pen. Roll window down just a little and tighten screw in front slider ("B"). If necessary, readjust screw for rear slider ("A"). After adjusting, check adjustment.
IN-AND-OUT ADJUSTMENT (FRONT DOORS - C70)
Adjustment screws ("A") are located on bottom of door. see scheme 5 Loosen lock nuts and screw adjuster in to bring window out, or out to bring window in. Front and rear of window can be adjusted separately. After adjusting, check adjustment.
Scheme 1
VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT (REAR SIDE - CONVERTIBLE)
Remove rear quarter trim panel from vehicle. See appropriate POWER WINDOW MOTOR procedure under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Make sure window is rolled partially down and convertible top is in UP position. At top of quarter panel there is a stop that can be adjusted up or down to limit travel. Roll window up and check adjustment. Adjust as necessary.
IN-AND-OUT ADJUSTMENT (REAR SIDE - CONVERTIBLE)
- Remove rear quarter trim panel from vehicle. See appropriate «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-96657-S21417225412001041900000) procedure under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Make sure window is rolled completely up, door is closed and convertible top is in UP position.
- Start with adjusting the window with 4 adjuster bolts that are similar to adjuster screws "A" on front doors so that it just begins to touch the "C" pillar sealing strip and the sealing strip between the front door glass and rear side window glass. see scheme 5 After obtaining these preliminary adjustments, adjust the window so that it touches the entire sealing strip between the "C" pillar and the "B" pillar. Roll window up and down, open and close door and check adjustment.
FRONT-TO-BACK ADJUSTMENT (REAR SIDE - CONVERTIBLE)
- Remove rear quarter trim panel from vehicle. See appropriate «POWER WINDOW MOTOR»(ref-96657-S21417225412001041900000) procedure under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Make sure window is rolled completely up and door is closed.
- There are 3 nuts to adjust front-to-back position of rear side window. (Scheme 2) Loosen these nuts and adjust clearance between front door glass and rear side glass ("B" pillar) to 0.16-0.24" (4-6 mm). After adjustment, recheck all other adjustments.
