Removal & Installation (V70)
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Ensure motor is in end (parked) position. Remove wiper arms by loosening wiper arm nut. Release wiper arm from splines. Using pliers, lever against nut and press arm up. (Scheme 3) Ensure nut is left in position to protect threads. Remove nut and arm.
- Open tailgate and remove trim around inner door handle. Place a piece of cardboard near window at each upper corner of trim panel to protect paint from damage when panel is removed. Pull lower edge of panel downward to release clips. Use your hand to hit panel forward to release remaining retainers.
- Remove wiper unit nuts and disconnect electrical connector. Remove nut from wiper arm shaft. Remove wiper motor unit. Remove wiper motor shaft-to-crank arm nut. Remove wiper motor screws and remove wiper motor from unit.
- Before installation, connect 12 volts to wiper motor to ensure that the motor is in park position. To install, reverse removal procedure. Install wiper arm blade parallel to lower edge of tailgate glass. Tighten wiper arm shaft nut to 11.8 ft. lbs. (16 N.m).
Removal & Installation (V90)
For rear wiper motor removal and installation, refer to illustration. (Scheme 8)
