CHECKING COMPONENTS AND WIRING

  1. Disconnect any connection from the socket for the tow hitch connector
  2. Ignition off, wait for at least 1 minute
  3. Break the power supply to the trailer module (TRM) by disconnecting the battery negative lead
  4. Disconnect connector A from the trailer module (TRM). CAUTION: Do not touch the terminal pins in the trailer module (TRM). There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the control module. Check the connector to the trailer module (TRM) and the socket for the tow hitch connector. Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors. Remedy as necessary. Check the cable between the trailer module (TRM) and the socket for the tow hitch connector. Check for a short-circuit to supply voltage. Check the cable between trailer module (TRM) terminal #A12 and the socket for the tow hitch connector. Remedy as necessary. Note. Check whether diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has also been stored. If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has been stored, fault-tracing must be carried out in accordance with fault-tracing for diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001. If diagnostic trouble code (DTC) TRM-E001 has not been stored, perform fault-tracing as follows.

  1. Disconnect any connection from the socket for the tow hitch connector
  2. Ignition off, wait for at least 1 minute
  3. Break the power supply to the trailer module (TRM) by disconnecting the battery negative lead
  4. Disconnect connector B from the trailer module (TRM). CAUTION: Do not touch the terminal pins in the trailer module (TRM). There is a risk of static discharge which could damage the control module. Check the connectors to the trailer module (TRM) and the vehicle right-hand stop lamp. Check for damage to pins and terminals in the connectors. Also check the connectors. Check for contact resistance and oxidation. Check for loose connections. Remedy as necessary. Check the cable between the trailer module (TRM) and the vehicle right-hand stop lamp. Check for an open-circuit. Check the cable between trailer module (TRM) terminal #B3 and vehicle right-hand stop lamp terminal #A1. Remedy as necessary. CHECKING THE WIRING AND TERMINALS

  1. Ignition off. Check fuses. Check the cable harness and connectors. Check the battery voltage. Check the charging function of the generator (GEN). Disconnect the connector for the Trailer module (TRM). Check voltage feed and ground connection for Trailer module (TRM). HINT: Also perform a check of the cable resistance across the cable harness from rear relay and fuse box to Trailer module (TRM). Check voltage feed and ground connection for Central electronic module (CEM). Remedy as necessary.
