ENGINE COMPRESSION
Note. Difference between cylinders must not exceed 25%.
Compression ratio is 9.0:1.
Check engine compression at normal operating temperature with all spark plugs removed. Compression should be 160-189 psi (1100-1300 kPa). Maximum compression difference between cylinders is 29 psi (200 kPa). For engine compression inspection procedure, see BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES - S40 & V40 .
VALVE CLEARANCE
For valve adjustment procedure and specifications, see ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS - S40 & V40 article.
IGNITION COIL
Connect an ohmmeter between the ignition coil terminals No. 1 and 2 (ignition coil side). The ohmmeter should read approximately .5 ohms. If not okay, replace ignition coil.
