Note. Do not damage components and terminals when test measuring. Handle components and terminals carefully.

Check 1

Connect an ohmmeter between terminal #1 and the outer casing of the gear shift solenoid. For resistance values, see the table below.

When measuring at temperatures other than +20 °C a test measurement must be taken at +20 °C. This is to establish if the resistance is correct or not.

Gear shift solenoid S1, S2Resistance between the solenoid pins and the solenoid casing/transmission housing+20 °C= 11-16 ohms

Check 2

Connect a temporary voltage supply (+) to gear shift solenoid terminal # 1 and a temporary ground terminal (-) to the gearshift solenoid outer casing. Check the function of the solenoid.

Check 3

Connect a temporary voltage supply (+) to gear shift solenoid terminal # 1 and a temporary ground terminal (-) to the gearshift solenoid outer casing. Blow using compressed air according as shown in the illustration. Check the function of the solenoid.

Scheme 480: CHECKING THE LINE PRESSURE SOLENOID SLT, SLC1, SLC2, SLC3, SLB1 AND LOCK-UP SOLENOID SLU

Connect the breakout box. See: CONNECTING THE BREAKOUT BOX

Note. Do not damage components and terminals when test measuring. Handle components and terminals carefully.

Check 1

Connect an ohmmeter to the breakout box between the terminals for the selected solenoid. For resistance values, see the table below.

for line pressure solenoid SLT

  1. terminals #B3 (#3) and #B1 (#1)

for lock-up solenoid SLU

  1. terminals #B9 (#9) and #B4 (#4)

for line pressure solenoid SLB1

  1. terminals #B21 (#21) and #B16 (#16)

for line pressure solenoid SLC1

  1. terminals #B11 (#11) and #B10 (#10)

for line pressure solenoid SLC2

  1. terminals #B17 (#17) and #B18 (#18)

for line pressure solenoid SLC3

  1. terminals #B14 (#14) and #B22 (#22)

When measuring at temperatures other than +20 °C a test measurement must be taken at +20 °C. This is to establish if the resistance is correct or not.
