Dashboard, replacing

Remove the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting.

Remove

1. the A-post panel. See «Panel, A-post, replacing»(ref-440253-S28629893642011121400000)
2. the sound insulation from the left and right sides. See «Soundproofing panel, replacing»(ref-440253-S26743061772011121400000)
3. the center console. See «Center console, replacing»(/volvo/s80/i-2003-2006/remont/mirrors/#interior-equipment-removal-replacement-and-installation__center-console-replacing) . HINT: Loosen the cables for the ignition switch interlock so that the gear selector can be moved freely.
4. steering wheel module / steering wheel / steering column covers. See «Steering wheel module (SWM), replacing»(/volvo/s80/i-2003-2006/remont/mirrors/#interior-equipment-removal-replacement-and-installation)
5. the combined instrument panel. See «Driver information module (DIM), replacing»(ref-440304-S03973474312011121400000).

Scheme 1

1. the two screws under the combined instrument panel (3 and 4).

1. the cover on the short side of the dashboard (driver's side): Snaps off.

1. the two screws under the cover (1 and 2).

1. the RTI screen. See «Display screen / loudspeaker, RTI (road traffic information), replacing»(ref-440234-S29204492852011121400000) or
2. the central loudspeakers. See «Central loudspeaker, replacing»(ref-440234-S31609305912011121400000) or
3. the grille if there is neither RTI or a central loudspeaker.

1. one screw under the RTI, loudspeaker or grille (5).

1. the hazard warning switch.

1. the connector for the sun sensor.

Scheme 4

1. the two screws under the dashboard environment panel (1 and 2).

1. the cover on the short side (passenger side): Snaps off.

1. the two screws under the cover (5 and 6).

2. the SRS connector.

1. the two screws for the SRS bracket (3 and 4).

Scheme 5

1. the dashboard.

HINT: This is considerably easier if two people are lifting the dashboard in or out of the car.

Install

In reverse order.

Scheme 6

Remove three screws.

Pull the steering wheel as far out as possible.

Remove the clip mounting between the covers.

Remove the lower steering column cover.

Remove the seal for the clip mounting at the dashboard.

Remove the upper steering column cover.
