Tightening the timing gear pulley

Tighten the center screw on the timing belt tensioner with variable valve timing. Tighten to 90 Nm .

Install the plug. Tighten to 35 Nm .

Install the third screw on the camshaft without variable valve timing. Tighten to 20 Nm .

Remove the adjustment tools.

Scheme 1: Check
  1. Press the belt to check that the indicator on the tensioner moves easily
  2. Install the upper timing cover
  3. Turn the crankshaft two turns. Check that the markings on the crankshaft and camshaft pulley correspond. NOTE: Check that the indicator on the belt tensioner is within the marked area.
  4. Remove the upper timing cover.

  1. Press the belt to check that the indicator on the tensioner moves easily
  2. Position the upper timing cover.
  1. Turn the crankshaft two turns. Check that the markings on the crankshaft and camshaft pulley correspond. NOTE: Check that the indicator on the belt tensioner is within the marked area.
  2. Remove the upper timing cover.

Tightening timing gear pulley

Tighten the center screw on the timing gear pulley with VVT. Tighten to 90 Nm .

Install the plug. Tighten to 35 Nm .

Install the third screw on the camshaft without VVT. Tighten to 20 Nm .

Remove the adjustment tools.
