CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CMP) (NON-TURBO)

Scheme 19: REMOVING UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD
CAUTIONSeal the openings in the lower part of the intake manifold. Use tape or similar.

Remove/slacken off

  1. the hose clamp for the hose between the intake manifold and the mass air flow (MAF) sensor
  2. the 6 screws for the upper intake manifold closest to the front cover plate. Remove/slacken off the 2 screws against the firewall. Lift up the intake manifold and place to one side. Disconnect the connector for the pressure sensor on the intake manifold. Cut the tie strap.

Disconnect the connector for the position sensor on the camshaft.

Remove

  1. the screw for the position sensor
  2. the position sensor on the camshaft.

Note. For tightening torques, see: TIGHTENING TORQUE .

INSTALLING THE CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR

Install

  1. the position sensor on the camshaft
  2. the screw for the position sensor. Tighten.

Connect the connector for the position sensor on the camshaft.

INSTALLING UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD

CAUTIONMake sure that the guides for the lower section are in the correct position.

Install

  1. a new gasket for the upper section of the intake manifold
  2. the upper intake manifold. Tighten the screws alternately. Tighten. See: «TIGHTENING TORQUE»(ref-500476-S18408599052012091100000) . Tighten the hose clamp to the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. Connect the connector for the pressure sensor on the intake manifold
  3. new tie strap for the cable harness.

CHECKING INJECTORS AND PULSATION DAMPERS

Start the engine. Check the function of the engine. Check for leakage.

Note. Make sure that the component terminals are not bent or damaged.

Note. Make sure that the seal is correctly located.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Reset according to "Adapting throttle unit" using VIDA (Volvo scan tool).

Drain cooling system, draining, filling, and bleeding, see COOLING SYSTEM - DRAINING, CHARGING AND BLEEDING

Remove the air filter housing, see AIR CLEANER HOUSING

PRESSURE SENSOR, FUEL RAIL (FRP)

INSTALLING THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR

Install

  1. the sensor
  2. the screw for the sensor. Tighten. Connect the connector for the sensor
  3. the upper timing cover
  4. the screws for the cover. Tighten.

CHECKS

Start the engine. Check for leakage. Check the engine function.

Remove right-hand cover, see FRONT EXTERIOR LIGHTS .
