OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and goes out shortly after engine is started. Light indicates low oil pressure, but does not indicate amount of oil in engine. Occasionally, light may come on when engine is hot and idling slowly after a hard drive. This is normal, provided light goes out after engine speed is increased. If it remains on or comes on while driving, stop vehicle, turn off engine and check oil level. If oil level is sufficient, there may be a fault in the lubricating system. Have the system checked and serviced immediately to locate and correct cause. Do not operate vehicle until problem has been corrected.
ALTERNATOR WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and should go out shortly after engine is started to indicate that alternator is operating properly. If light remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates possible fault in the electrical charging system. The alternator belt may be loose or broken. Have the system checked and serviced promptly. Due to the design of the system, a "no charge" condition will also cause the Lambda-sond, parking brake, brake failure, and bulb failure warning lights to also light.
"BRAKE FAILURE" WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If it remains on or comes on while driving, it indicates low fluid level or fault in one of the brake circuits. If light comes on while driving, check brake fluid level and have the system checked and serviced immediately. Do not continue driving if fluid in reservoir is empty.
PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
With the parking brake fully or partially engaged, light should come on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started and parking brake fully released. If light does not come on as designed or comes on at any other time, the bulb may be burned out or the parking brake switch may be damaged. Have the system checked and serviced as necessary to correct problem.
BULB FAILURE WARNING LIGHT
Light comes on when the ignition is turned on as a bulb check and goes out after engine is started. If light comes on with engine running, it indicates that one of the bulbs in the low beam headlights, tail lights or brake lights (comes on when brake pedal is depressed) is burned out.
"SERVICE" INDICATOR LIGHT
After every 5000 miles, light comes on for 2 minutes after engine is started as a 5000 mile maintenance service reminder. Light should be reset after service.
"LAMBDA-SOND" REMINDER LIGHT (TURBO MODELS ONLY)
Light comes on every 30,00 mile as a service reminder to have the oxygen sensor system serviced. Light will remain on until it is reset after service. Models equipped with electrically-heated sensor does not require periodic servicing.
"CHECK ENGINE" WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light comes on with the ignition switch in the "ON" position and goes out shortly after engine is started. If light comes on or remains on while driving, it indicates faults in fuel injection and ignition systems emission control components.
"ANTI-LOCK" BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Light indicates fault in the ABS system. Standard brake system will still function normally. Have vehicle inspected and repaired as soon as possible.
"SRS" SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
WARNING LIGHT (IF EQUIPPED)
Indicates the self-diagnostic system has detected a fault in the SRS system. Have vehicle inspected and repaired as soon as possible.
