ENGINE NUMBER
The engine number ("engine code" and "serial number") is located next to the vibration damper -arrow- on the cylinder block.
Scheme 36
The engine number consists of up to nine alphanumeric characters. The first part (maximum 3 characters) makes up the engine code and the second part (6 characters) is the serial number. If more than 999,999 engines with the same engine code were produced, the first of the 6 digits is replaced with a letter.
A label is also attached to the intake manifold with the "engine code" and "serial number".
The engine code is also included on the vehicle data plate.
