Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93 , checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

  1. Multimeter
  2. Wiring diagram

Requirements

  1. The Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93 fuse OK.
  2. The battery voltage must be at least 12.5 Volts.
  3. All electrical consumers must be switched off.
  4. The parking brake must be engaged.
  1. The selector lever must be in the "P" position.
  2. The Ground (GND) connections to transmission must be OK.
  3. Ignition switched off.

Test procedure

  1. Perform a preliminary check to verify the customers complaint. Refer to --> «Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 , replacing»(ref-255014-S25909326542007052300000)

Start diagnosis

  1. Disconnect the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93 electrical harness connector - 1 -.
  2. Check the electrical harness connector for damage, corrosion, loose or broken terminals.
  3. Repair any damage found to the electrical harness connector.

If the electrical harness connector is not OK

  1. Repair the malfunction.

If the electrical harness connector is OK

Checking resistance

  1. Using a multimeter , check the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93 terminals 1 to 2 for resistance.

Specified value: 1.5 ohms Max.

If the specified value was not obtained

  1. Check the wiring for a short circuit to each other, Battery (+), and Ground (GND).
  2. If necessary, repair the faulty wiring connection.

If no malfunction is found in the wiring and the resistance was not OK

  1. Replace the Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93. For all Automatic Transmission system removal/installation procedures and torque specifications. Refer to «38 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - GEARS, HYDRAULIC CONTROLS»(ref-255022-S24660042882007052300000) .

If no malfunction is found in the wiring and the resistance was OK

  1. Replace the Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217. For all Automatic Transmission system removal/installation procedures and torque specifications. Refer to «38 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION - GEARS, HYDRAULIC CONTROLS»(ref-255022-S24660042882007052300000) .
  2. Erase the DTC memory. Refer to --> «Diagnostic Mode 04: Reset/delete diagnostic data»(ref-255014-S10840575532007052300000)
  3. Perform a road test to verify repair.

If the DTC does not return

Repair complete, Generate readiness code. Refer to --> Readiness Code .

  1. End diagnosis.

If the DTC does return and no malfunction is detected in the wiring and the voltage supply was OK

  1. Replace the Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220. Refer to --> «Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) J220 , replacing»(ref-255014-S25909326542007052300000) .
