Function
Immobilizer electronics consist of
- Immobilizer Control Module
- A matched engine control.
- Reader coil on ignition lock
- Adapted (matched) ignition keys with electronic components (transponder and response reader memory)
Immobilizer Control Module -J362- is located on the steering column. It is equipped with On Board Diagnostic (OBD).
If malfunctions occur in monitored sensors and components, they will be stored in Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory together with an indication of DTC type.
A maximum of 4 DTCs can be stored simultaneously.
DTCs, like temporary wiring open circuit or loose contacts, will be erased after switching off ignition and cannot be read later.
On Board Diagnostic (OBD) must be initiated at the start of diagnosis and the information checked with the VAS 5051, VAG 1551 or VAG 1552
Note. The following description covers only VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST).
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is used in conjunction with the DTC table which has information regarding possible causes and corrective actions.
