Installing Volkswagen Golf Mk4

Body Exterior (A4 Platform) 10 illustrations ~1068 words

Installing

  1. Engage locking clamp again.
  2. Position lock cylinder housing on to grip piece and lock in handle with an audible click.
  3. Then proceed in reverse order of removal.

  1. Removing
  1. Unclip lid trim (handle is secured with a bolt).
  2. Unclip pull lever for lid lock (operating rod for central locking system if necessary), pry out locking clamp and remove lock cylinder housing from grip plate.

Lid adjustment if performed as for Golf

2 - Trim

3 - Rubber stop

9 - Lock plate

  1. adjusting - within elongated holes

  1. Tighten using Pop rivet tongs V.A.G 1765 A

13 - Identification plate

  1. Press on only on hatched area
  2. Replacement part has two foils. First foil covers adhesive surface, second must be removed after installing.

1 - Lock cylinder housing

  1. Removing and installing. Refer to «Lock cylinder housing, removing and installing»(ref-255029-S40992495752007052300000)

2 - Handle

  1. Removing. Refer to «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(ref-255030-S15969850052007052300000)
  1. Remove bolt , disconnect connector for switch and remove handle from lid.

  1. Disconnect connector from lock.

  1. Disconnect connector from motor.
  2. Remove nuts and remove carrier plate.
  3. Remove motor for rear lid release from carrier plate.

9 - Actuator lever

1 - VW-symbol

  1. consisting of emblem carrier and message
  2. To install VW symbol, remove protective foil and adhere to lock cylinder housing using two-sided adhesive tape

2 - Lock cylinder housing

  1. Removing
  1. Remove rear lid trim. Refer to «70 - INTERIOR TRIM»(ref-255030-S15969850052007052300000)
  2. Disconnect connector for micro-switch / wiring harness.
  3. Remove operating rod at actuator lever.
  4. Remove screws (3x).
  1. Remove lock cylinder housing with VW symbol from rear lid.
  1. Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal.

3 - Micro-switch

  1. For vehicles with central locking system
  2. For vehicles without central locking system
  3. Allocation Original parts distributor
  4. Removing and installing. Refer to «Micro-switch, removing and installing»(ref-255029-S02117316362007052300000)

4 - Linkage clip

  1. To remove operating rod, disconnect linkage clip and pull open

5 - Seal

  1. Attached in area of lock cylinder housing

6 - Bolt

  1. Qty. 3
  2. 4 Nm

7 - Bolt

  2. 0.3 Nm

  2. Release catches at micro-switch - 1 -.

To do so, press catches downward - arrow -.

  1. Secure wires - 1 - and - 2 - in retaining profile - arrow - of micro-switch - 3 -.

  1. Make sure that micro-switch is positioned with securing tabs - arrows - on lock cylinder housing - 1 -.
  2. Before locking micro-switch, if must be checked that wires are lying correctly in retaining profile of micro-switch and lock cylinder. If this is not case and micro-switch is locked, wires/micro-switch may be damaged.
  1. Lock micro-switch - 1 - with lock cylinder housing - 2 -. Make sure that catch - arrow - is locks correctly.
  2. Install lock cylinder housing. Refer to «Lock cylinder housing, removing and installing»(ref-255029-S40992495752007052300000)

  2. Unclip operating rod from lock cylinder housing.
  3. Unclip operating rod from motor for rear lid release.
  4. Remove hex nuts and remove carrier plate.
  1. Remove motor for rear lid release from carrier plate.

9 - Operating rod

  1. 22 Nm

11 - Lock
