DESCRIPTION
Crankcase ventilation system consists of a sealed oil filler cap, restrictor, and a hose connecting valve cover and air cleaner or intake tube. Turbo diesel models use a large diameter pressure regulating valve attached to valve cover to ventilate crankcase.
OPERATION
Crankcase vapors and blow-by gases flow from the valve cover through the rubber hose and into the air cleaner where they mix with fresh intake air. From the air cleaner they are drawn into the combustion chambers and burned.

TESTING

MAINTENANCE
Every 15,000 miles or every year, visually inspect rubber hose connected between air cleaner and valve cover for damage or plugging and clean hose.
Ensure that hose is clear by removing end at valve cover and blowing into hose. If hose is obstructed, remove hose and soak it in solvent. Scrub inside of hose with a long brush and dry with compressed air. When reinstalling hose, make sure all connections are tight.
