RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS

Camry

  1. Adjust camber on front suspension by loosening shock absorber nut and turning camber adjustment cam. Camber will change about 1/3° with each graduation of cam. Rear suspension camber can not be adjusted.
  2. Adjust caster by increasing or decreasing the number of spacers on stabilizer bar. Caster will change 1/2° with each .16" (4 mm) spacer, do not install more than 2 spacers.

Corolla FWD & MR2

  1. If camber is not within specifications, adjust by turning the camber adjust cam. Loosen shock absorber set nut. Turn cam to adjust. Camber changes about 1/3° with each graduation of cam.
  2. Adjust caster by loosening nuts on strut rod and turning nuts to lengthen or shorten strut rod.

Cressida

  1. If camber is not within specifications, replace damaged or worn front suspension parts.
  2. To adjust caster, add or subtract a shim as necessary. If caster still cannot be adjusted within limits, inspect and replace damaged or worn front suspension parts.

Land Cruiser, Pickup (4WD) & 4-Runner (4WD)

Camber and caster are not adjustable. If not within specifications, inspect, repair or replace front suspension components as necessary.

Pickup (2WD) & 4-Runner (2WD)

Adjust camber and caster by adding or removing shims between upper control arm shaft and front suspension crossmember.

Celica Supra

  1. Adjust camber by turning camber adjustment cam. Loosen shock absorber nut and turn cam. Camber will change about 1/3° with each graduation of cam.
  2. Caster adjustment is done by increasing and decreasing the strut bar length. One turn of the strut bar nut changes caster by 2/15°. If caster still cannot be adjusted within limits, inspect and replace damaged or worn front suspension parts.

Tercel

  1. Adjust camber by turning camber adjustment cam. Loosen shock absorber nut and turn cam. Camber will change about 1/3° with each graduation of cam.
  2. Caster adjustment is only possible if an increase is needed. If caster reading is above specification, no adjustment is possible

All Other Models

If caster or camber angle is not within specifications, adjust by loosening nuts on strut rod and turning nuts to lengthen or shorten strut rod.

Note. If caster or camber angle is not adjustable, check front end for bent or worn parts and replace as necessary.

Front

Ensure wheels are positioned straight ahead. Remove rack boot clips. Loosen tie rod clamp bolts and rotate adjusting sleeves an equal amount until correct toe-in is obtained. Position clamp bolts at right angles to slot in tie rod. Tighten bolts and install rack boot clips, making sure that boot is not twisted.

Rear

  1. Vehicle must be on level floor and in straight-ahead position. Measure distance between each wheel disc and cam bolt center of suspension arm. Confirm both measurements are the same.
  2. Move vehicle forward a few meters. Mark center of each rear tread and measure distance between marks of right and left tires. Advance vehicle until marks on rear side of tires come to front.
  3. Measure distance between marks on front side of tires at the same point on tires and at same level. Loosen cam bolt. Adjust toe-in by turning left and right adjusting nuts an equal amount, but in opposite direction. (Scheme 3) Toe-in will change 5/16" (2 mm) with each graduation of cam (one side). Tighten cam bolt.

TIRE INFLATION (COLD)

Before attempting to check or adjust wheel alignment and riding height, ensure that tires are properly inflated. Refer to manufacturer's specifications given in owner's manual.

RIDING HEIGHT

Before adjusting wheel alignment, check riding height. Riding height must be checked with vehicle on level floor. Bounce vehicle several times and allow suspension to settle. Check riding height measurement. (Scheme 1)and (Scheme 2). If riding height is not within specifications listed in RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS table, check, repair or replace suspension components.
