  1. READ VALUE OF HAND HELD TESTER (VSV FOR AICV) Turn the ignition switch ON and the hand held tester main switch ON. Select the item "DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II/ACTIVE TEST/INTAKE CTL VSV1" and operate the VSV for AICV. Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the hand held tester. Standard: TESTER OPERATION SPECIFIED CONDITION Tester operation Specified condition VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter OK: Go to step 4 NG: Go to next step.
  2. CHECK VSV (FOR AICV) (See «INSPECTION»(ref-195070-S20455727252005093000000) ) NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO.3 OK: Go to next step.
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY) Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector. Disconnect the V2 VSV for AICV connector. Disconnect the E8 ECM connector. Check for continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard (Check for open): SYMBOL SPECIFIED CONDITION Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified condition VSV for AICV (V2-2) - AICV (E8-33) Continuity Standard (Check for short): SYMBOLS SPECIFIED CONDITION Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified condition VSV for AICV (V2-2) or AICV (E8-33) - E1 (E6-1) No continuity Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector. Reconnect the ECM connector. Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV and the EFI relay. Disconnect the V2 VSV for AICV connector. Remove the EFI relay from the engine room J/B. Check for continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard (Check for open): SYMBOLS SPECIFIED CONDITION Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified condition VSV for AICV (V2-1) - EFI relay terminal 3 of J/B Continuity Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector. Reinstall the EFI relay. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step.
  4. INSPECT VACUUM TANK (See «INSPECTION»(ref-195070-S20455727252005093000000) ) NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE OK: CHECK AND REPLACE ECM (See «ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE»(ref-182527-S10275083422005080900000) )

  2. INSPECT ECM Turn the ignition switch ON. Measure the voltage between terminals AICV and E2 of the E8 ECM connector. Voltage: 9 to 14 V NG: CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR OK: Go to next step.
  3. INSPECT VACUUM TANK (See «INSPECTION»(ref-195070-S20455727252005093000000) ) NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE OK: Go to next step.
  4. CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY) Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector. Disconnect the V2 VSV for AICV connector. Disconnect the E8 ECM connector. Check for continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard (Check for open): SYMBOLS SPECIFIED CONDITION (FOR OPEN) Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified condition VSV for AICV (V2-2) - AICV (E8-33) Continuity Standard (Check for short): SYMBOLS SPECIFIED CONDITION (FOR SHORT) Symbols (Terminal No.) Specified condition VSV for AICV (V2-2) or AICV (E8-33) - E1 (E6-1) No continuity Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
