Scheme 1
- The Controller Area Network (CAN) is a serial data communication system for real time application and also a multiplex communication system for a vehicle. In addition, the CAN has a high communication speed (500 kbps) and a function to detect a malfunction.
- Pairing the CANH wire harness and CANL wire harness, the CAN performs communication based on the voltage difference.
- The RAV4 uses the CAN communication system for communication between the following ECU and sensors in the ABS with EBD & BA & TRAC & VSC system. Skid control ECU Yaw rate sensor Steering angle sensor
- The skid control ECU stores and outputs DTCs instead of the steering angle sensor and yaw rate sensor because they cannot store or output DTCs.
- In the CAN communication system, 2 terminus circuits* which are necessary to communicate with the mainline are placed. *: These circuits consist of a resistor and condenser. They convert the communication current of the CAN communication into bus voltage.
