ON-VEHICLE CLEANING
Note. If using a high pressure type cleaner, be careful not to deform the fins. (i.e. Maintain a distance between the cleaner nozzle and fins.)
Using water or a steam cleaner, remove any mud or dirt from the fins.

- Remove Radiator Cap.
- Inspect Radiator Cap NOTE: Push the pump at a constant speed. (Scheme 20): Installing Radiator Cap Tester Using a radiator cap tester, slowly pump the tester and check that air is coming from the vacuum valve. Pump speed: 1 push/(3 seconds or more) If air is not coming from the vacuum valve, replace the radiator cap. NOTE: This pump speed is for the first pump only (in order to close the vacuum value). After this, the pump speed can be reduced. Pump the tester and measure the relief valve opening pressure. Pump speed: 1 push within 1 seconds Standard opening pressure: 74 - 103 kPa (0.75 - 1.05 kgf.cm 2, 10.7 - 14.9 psi) Minimum opening pressure: 79 kPa (0.8 kgf.cm 2, 11.5 psi)
- Inspect Cooling System For Leaks (Scheme 21): Inspecting Cooling System For Leaks Fill the radiator with coolant and attach a radiator cap tester. Warm up the engine. Pump it to 118 kPa (1.2 kgf.cm 2, 17.1 psi), and check that the pressure drops. If the pressure drops, check the hoses, radiator or water pump for leaks. If no external leaks are found, check the heater core, cylinder block and head.

- Discharge Refrigerant From Refrigeration System.
- Drain Engine Coolant From Radiator
- Remove Electric Cooling Fan Assembly
- Remove Front Bumper
- Remove Radiator Reservoir Hose
- Disconnect Discharge And Liquid Tube NOTE: Cap open the fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system. At the time of installation, please refer to the following item. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the tubes. (Scheme 23): Removing Discharge And Liquid Tube Bolts Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect discharge and liquid tube. Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf) Remove the bolt. Disconnect the liquid tube and remove the bracket.
- Remove Radiator Upper Support Remove the 2 bolts and 2 radiator upper supports. (Scheme 24): Removing Radiator Upper Support
- Remove Radiator & Condenser Module Push the radiator & condenser module toward engine. Pull up the radiator until the lower radiator support is removed. Pull it downward to remove it.
