SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. ILLUMINATED ENTRY SYSTEM The illuminated entry system has the following control functions: Control Outline Lights that Operate Actuation Area-linked When a registered key enters any actuation area around the doors, the lights that operate turn on. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light When a registered key leaves all of actuation areas around the doors, the lights that operate turn off. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Door Lock/Unlock-linked When any door is unlocked, the lights that operate turn on. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights When all doors are locked, the lights that operate turn off. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights Door Open/Close-linked When any door is opened, the lights that operate turn on. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights When all doors are closed, the lights that operate turn off. Power Switch-linked When the power switch is turned from on (ACC or IG) to off, the lights that operate turn on. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights When the power switch is turned from off to on (ACC or IG) the light that operate turn off. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights Shift Position-linked When the power switch is on (READY) and with park (P) selected, the shift lever is moved to select another shift state, the light that operate dim. Footwell Lights Delay When approximately 15 seconds elapse after any of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate turn off: An actuation area-linked function is used. The door unlock-linked function is active. Any doors is opened and then all doors are closed when the power switch is off. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light Footwell Lights Battery Saving When no changes occur in the condition of the doors for 20 minutes and a key is not in the actuation area, these lights turn off. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light When no changes occur in the condition of the doors for 20 minutes, the footwell lights turn off. Footwell Lights

HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

HINT

  1. Use the following procedure to troubleshoot the lighting system.

  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP NEXT: Go to next step
  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS AND SYMPTOM CHECK NEXT: Go to next step
  3. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE Measure the auxiliary battery voltage with the power switch off. Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery before proceeding to the next step. NEXT: Go to next step
  4. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM* Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally. Result Result Proceed to CAN communication system DTC is not output. A CAN communication system DTC is output. B B --> GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. OPERATION CHECK

  1. INSPECT INTERIOR LIGHT CONTROL OPERATION NOTE: When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. HINT: The interior light control illuminates the lights below. Power Switch Illumination Front Interior Lights Rear Interior Light The operation and operation conditions of this control are described below. Operation Operation Condition Fade in and illuminate constantly Any door is opened when all doors are closed. Illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out When any of the following conditions is met, the lights illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out. The key enters any actuation area around the doors when the power switch is off and all doors are closed*1. Any door is unlocked when the power switch is off, all doors are closed and locked. The power switch is turned from on (ACC) to off when all doors are closed. All doors are closed when any door is opened and the power switch is off. Fade out immediately When any of the following conditions is met, the lights fade out immediately. The power switch is turned from off to on (ACC) when all doors are closed. All doors are locked when the power switch is off, all doors are closed and any door is unlocked. All doors are locked again when all doors are closed and locked. Battery saver When no changes occur in the condition of the doors for 20 minutes and a key is not in the actuation area, these lights turn off. HINT: *1: When the lights are on, if the key leaves all of actuation areas around the doors, after approximately 3 seconds, the lights fade out.
  2. INSPECT FOOTWELL LIGHT CONTROL OPERATION NOTE: When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. HINT: The footwell light control illuminates the lights below. Footwell light LH Footwell light RH The operation and operation conditions of this control are described below. Operation Operation Condition Fade in and illuminate constantly When any of the following conditions is met, the footwell light LH and footwell light RH fade in. Any door is opened when all door are closed. The power switch is turned from off to on (IG). Illuminate for 15 seconds, and then fade out When any of the following conditions is met, the footwell light LH and foot light RH illuminate for 15 seconds and then fade out. Any door is unlocked when the power switch is off, all doors are closed and all doors are locked. The power switch is turned from on (IG) to off when all doors are closed. All doors are closed when any door is opened and the power switch is off. Fade out immediately All doors are locked when the power switch is off, all doors are closed and any door is unlocked. Dim When the power switch is on (READY) and with park (P) selected, the shift lever is moved to select another shift state, the lights that operate dim. Battery saver When no changes occur in the condition of the doors for 20 minutes, the footwell lights turn off.

CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS

  1. CUSTOMIZE LIGHTING SYSTEM (INT) Customizing using the Techstream HINT: The following items can be customized. NOTE: When the customer requests a change in a function, first make sure that the function can be customized. Be sure to make a note of the current settings before customizing. When troubleshooting a function, first make sure that the function is set to the default setting. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Customize Setting / Illuminated Entry. Select the setting by referring to the table below. ILLUMINATED ENTRY Tester Display Default Content Setting Relevant ECU Lighting Time 15 s Changes the lighting time after closing all of the doors. (It will fade out immediately in case of turning the power switch from off to on (ACC or IG).) 15 s, 7.5 s or 30 s Main body ECU (Multiplex network body ECU) I/L when ACC OFF ON Lights up power switch illumination, front interior lights and rear interior light when the power switch is turned from on (ACC or IG) to off. OFF or ON I/L ON W/Door Key Unlock ON Lights up power switch illumination, front interior lights, rear interior light and footwell lights when doors are unlocked using a mechanical key or door control transmitter. OFF or ON Inside Foot Light*1 ON ON/OFF of footwell light control function. OFF or ON Light Control*1 ON Dims (ON setting) or turns off (OFF setting) the footwell lights under the following conditions: Power switch on (READY), shift state other than park (P) has been selected, and all doors closed. OFF or ON Room Light when Aprchd ON Lights up the power switch illumination, front interior lights and rear interior light when a key enters any actuation area around the doors. OFF or ON Interior Light Control ON Function to change the interior light and footwell light control. OFF or ON *1: w/ Footwell Light Customizing with the Multi-display (w/ Navigation System (for Navigation Receiver Type)) Turn the power switch on (IG). Enter the following menus: Setup / Vehicle / Vehicle Customization / Light Settings Select the setting by referring to the table below Display Default Content Setting Relevant ECU Interior Lights Off Time 15 sec. Changes the lighting time after closing all of the doors. (It will fade out immediately in case of turning the power switch from off to on (ACC or IG).) Off, 7.5 sec., 15 sec., or 30 sec.   3. CHECK CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) Disconnect the L62 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below. DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM

  1. DESCRIPTION Lighting system data can be read from the Data Link Connector 3 (DLC3) of the vehicle. When the system seems to be malfunctioning, use the Techstream to check for malfunctions and perform repairs.
  2. CHECK DLC3 Check the DLC3. Refer to «GENERAL INFORMATION»(/toyota/prius-v/i-2011-2014/remont/hoistjack/#introduction) .
  3. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY VOLTAGE Standard Voltage 11 to 14 V If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the auxiliary battery.

DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST HINT: Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. NOTE: In the following table, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream. This non-intrusive functional inspection can be very useful because intermittent operation may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Performing Active Tests early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time. Data List information can be displayed while performing Active Tests. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test. Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.   1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the power switch on (IG). Turn the Techstream on. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Key / Active Test. Check that the illumination operates.
