DTC P2121: ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR RANGE/PERFORMANCE Toyota MR2 W30

Note. DTC applies to models with sequential manual transaxle. Sequential manual transaxle is an electronically controlled manual transaxle in which the clutch is operated and transaxle is shifted hydraulically by moving the shift lever forward or backward. Sequential manual transaxle may be identified by shift lever pattern which consists of "R", "N", "S" and "+" in place of the conventional type shift lever pattern and no clutch pedal is used.

Circuit Description

Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor is located on throttle body and has 2 variable resistors integral to APP sensor. APP sensor monitors accelerator position and is connected with the accelerator pedal by the accelerator wire. APP sensor signal voltage (0-5 volts) to ECM changes in proportion to accelerator pedal opening angle. ECM turns off power to throttle motor based on APP sensor voltage signals.
