  1. CHECK INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE OPERATION Start the engine. While the engine is idling, check that the actuator rod moves. Disconnect the VSV connector (for ACIS), and check that the actuator rod is returned. If the operation is not as specified, inspect the intake air control valve, VSV (for ACIS) and ECM.

  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY (for ACIS) With 39.9 kPa (300 mmHg, 11.8 in.Hg) of vacuum applied to the actuator, check that the actuator rod moves. One minute after applying the vacuum in the step above, check that the actuator rod does not return. If the operation is not as specified, replace the intake manifold.
  2. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY Measure the resistance of the VSV. Standard resistance VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE Tester Connection Specified Condition 1 - 2 26 to 30 ohm at 20°C (68°F) 1 - Body Ground 2 - Body Ground 10 Mohm or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV assembly. Check the operation of the VSV. Check that air does not flow from port E to port F. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2. Check that air flows from port E to port F. If the result is not as specified, replace the VSV assembly.
