  1. Inspect Brake Actuator Assy. Disconnect the brake actuator connector. Check continuity between terminal BS(16) and terminals SFRH(7), SFLH(14), SRRH(20), SRLH(6), SFRR(5), SFLR(19), SRRR(18) and SRLR(12) of brake actuator. OK: Continuity NOTE: Resistance of each solenoid SFRH, SFLH, SRRH, SRLH: 8.3-9.3 ohms SFRR, SFLR, SRRR, SRLR: 4.0-4.6 ohms Check continuity between terminals SM1 + (13) - SM1-(21), and terminals SM2+(22) - SM2-(23) of brake actuator. OK: Continuity Resistance of each solenoid: 8.3-9.3 ohms Check continuity between terminal BS(16) and terminals SRM1(3) and SRM2(10) of brake actuator. OK: Continuity NOTE: Resistance of each solenoid SRM1, SRM2: 6.2-6.8 ohms NG: Replace Brake Actuator Assy. OK: Go To Next Step .
  2. Check Wire Harness And Connector (Brake Actuator - Skid Control ECU). See «HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS»(ref-174461-S15605692682005040500000) . NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector OK: Go to next step .
  3. Check Skid Control ECU Terminal Voltage (SR Terminal) Remove the skid control ECU with connectors still connected. Turn the ignition switch ON, measure between terminal SR and GND. OK: Voltage: 1 V or less OK: Check And Repair Harness And ABS Solenoid Relay NG: Go To Next Step .
  4. Check DTC Once More. See «PRE-CHECK»(ref-177545-S42192344642005060100000) A : Go To Next Step . B : No Problem
  5. Check Contact Condition (Each Connection) OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy. NG: Check And Repair Harness And Connector

  1. Inspect Fuse (ABS2 Of FL Block) Remove ABS2 fuse from the FL BLOCK. Check continuity of ABS2 fuse. OK: Continuity OK: Go To Next Step. NG: Replace Fuses
  2. Inspect ABS Motor Relay Check continuity between each terminal of ABS motor relay. OK: See specifications in (Scheme 59). Apply battery positive voltage between terminals 1 and 2. Check continuity between terminals 3 and 5 of ABS motor relay. OK: See specifications in (Scheme 60). OK: Go To Next Step. NG: Replace ABS Motor Relay
  3. Inspect Brake Actuator Assy. Disconnect the connector from the brake actuator. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to BM (1) terminal and negative (-) lead to GND (2) and MR (11) terminal of the brake actuator, check that the pump motor is operated. OK: The Running Sound Of The Pump Motor Should Be Heard. OK: Go To Next Step. NG: Replace Brake Actuator Assy.
  4. Check Wire Harness And Connector (Brake Actuator - Skid Control ECU). See «HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS»(ref-174461-S15605692682005040500000). OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector

  1. Inspect Fuse (ECU-IG Of Instrument Panel J/B) Remove ECU-IG fuse from the instrument panel J/B. Check continuity of ECU-IG fuse. OK: Continuity OK: Go To Next Step . NG: Inspect For Short Circuit In All Harness And Components Connected To ECU-IG Fuse
  2. Inspect Battery (Terminal Voltage) Check the battery positive voltage. OK: Voltage: 10-14 V OK: Go To Next Step . NG: Check Charging System
  3. Check Voltage Of ECU IG Power Source In Case Of Using The TOYOTA Hand-Held Tester: Select the DATALIST mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester. Check the voltage condition output from the ECU displayed on the TOYOTA hand-held tester. OK: "Normal" Is Displayed. In Case Of Not Using The TOYOTA Hand-Held Tester: Remove the skid control ECU with connectors still connected. Turn the ignition switch ON, measure voltage between terminals IG1 and GND of skid control ECU connector. OK: Voltage: 10-14 V OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy NG: Go To Next Step .
  4. Check Continuity (GND Of Skid Control ECU-Body Ground) OK: Check And Repair Harness And Connector NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector

  1. Check Stop Light Switch Operation Check that the stop light lights up when brake pedal is depressed and turns off when the brake pedal is released. OK: Go To Step 3 NG: Go To Next Step .
  2. Check Stop Light Switch Circuit NG: Repair Or Replace Stop Light Switch Circuit OK: Go To Next Step .
  3. Check Skid Control ECU Terminal Voltage (STP Terminal) Remove the skid control ECU with connectors still connected. Measure voltage between terminal STP of skid control ECU and body ground when brake pedal is depressed. OK: Voltage: 8-14 V OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy. NG: Go To Next Step .
  4. Check Harness And Connector (Stop Light Switch - Skid Control ECU). See «HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS»(ref-174461-S15605692682005040500000) . OK: Proceed To Next Circuit Inspection Shown On Problem Symptom Table NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector

Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to BM (1) terminal and negative (-) lead to GND (2) and MR (11) terminal of the brake actuator, check that the pump motor is operated. OK: The Running Sound Of The Pump Motor Should Be Heard. OK: Go To Next Step . NG: Replace Brake Actuator Assy.

  3. Check Voltage Of ECU IG Power Source In Case Of Using The TOYOTA Hand-Held Tester: Select the DATALIST mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester.   5. Check Wire Harness And Connector (Battery - Skid Control ECU). See «HOW TO TROUBLESHOOT ECU CONTROLLED SYSTEMS»(ref-174461-S15605692682005040500000) . NG: Check And Repair Harness And Connector OK: Go To Next Step .
  6. Check ABS Warning Light In Case Of Using The TOYOTA Hand-Held Tester: Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the TOYOTA hand-held tester. Check that "ON" and "OFF" of the ABS warning light can be shown on the combination meter by the TOYOTA hand-held tester. In Case Of Not Using The TOYOTA Hand-Held Tester: Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the connector from the skid control ECU. Turn the ignition switch ON. Check the ABS warning light goes off. OK: Check And Replace Skid Control ECU Assy. NG: Check And Replace Combination Meter Assy.
