  1. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT AHEAD
  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  10. REMOVE IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Disconnect the connector from the ignition switch. Remove the 2 screws and ignition switch.

  1. INSPECT IGNITION SWITCH Measure the resistance of the switch. Standard Resistance TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition Between all terminals LOCK 10 kohms or higher AM1 (E4-2) - ACC (E4-3) ACC Below 1 ohms AM1 (E4-2) - ACC (E4-3) AM1 (E4-2) - IG1 (E4-4) IG2 (E4-6) - AM2 (E4-7) ON Below 1 ohms ST1 (E4-1) - AM1 (E4-2) ST1 (E4-1) - IG1 (E4-4) IG2 (E4-6) - AM2 (E4-7) IG2 (E4-6) - ST2 (E4-8) START Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.

INSTALLATION

  1. INSTALL IGNITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY Install the ignition switch with the 2 screws. Connect the connector.

  3. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-338606-S12272005242009082800000) )
  4. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-338655-S11921080812009082800000) )
  5. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-338607-S23510637022009082800000) )
  6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See «INSTALLATION»(ref-338606-S10492888762009082800000) )

Scheme 52: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
  1. INSPECT STARTER RELAY Check the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard Resistance TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage is not applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
  2. INSPECT ACC RELAY
  1. Check the resistance. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard Resistance TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 3 - 5 Battery voltage Is not applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kohms or higher 3 - 5 Battery voltage Is applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
