- Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Drain engine oil. Remove lower engine covers. Remove oil dipstick, dipstick tube and "O" ring.
- Remove front exhaust pipe and support bracket. Remove front exhaust pipe located between exhaust manifold and rear catalytic converter.
- Remove front exhaust pipe support bracket. On A/T models, disconnect transaxle shift cable brackets from engine mount crossmember. On A/C equipped models, disconnect A/C pipe bracket from engine mount crossmember.
- On all models, support engine with hoist. Remove front and rear engine mount through-bolts. Remove rear engine mount-to-crossmember bolts/nuts. Remove rear engine mount from crossmember. Remove rear engine mount bracket from cylinder block. Remove bolts and engine mount crossmember.
- Remove bolts/nuts for No. 2 oil pan. (Scheme 26) Install Seal Cutter (SST 09032-00100) between No. 1 and 2 oil pans. Using hammer, tap seal cutter along sides of No. 2 oil pan surface to loosen seal between No. 1 and 2 oil pans. DO NOT damage sealing surfaces. Remove No. 2 oil pan.
- Remove baffle plate, pick-up tube and gasket. Remove No. 1 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts at rear of No. 1 oil pan. Remove remaining No. 1 oil pan bolts. Remove No. 1 oil pan by prying between No. 1 oil pan and cylinder block. DO NOT damage sealing surfaces.
Installation
- Ensure sealing surfaces are clean. Apply sealant on No. 1 oil pan at designated areas. (Scheme 27)
- Install No. 1 oil pan. Install and tighten No. 1 oil pan-to-cylinder block, oil pump and rear seal retainer housing bolts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49471-S33381022982001011500000). Install and tighten No. 1 oil pan-to-transaxle bolts to specification.
- Using NEW gasket, install pick-up tube. Install and tighten nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49471-S33381022982001011500000). Install baffle plate. Install and tighten bolts/nuts to specification.
- Apply sealant on No. 2 oil pan at designated areas. (Scheme 27) Install No. 2 oil pan. Install and tighten No. 2 oil pan bolts /nuts to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49471-S33381022982001011500000).
- To install remaining components, reverse removal procedure. Use NEW "O" ring on dipstick tube. Install all bolts/nuts in engine mounts and engine mount crossmember before tightening to specification. See «TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS»(ref-49471-S33381022982001011500000).
- Apply engine oil to dipstick tube "O" ring before installing dipstick tube. Use NEW gaskets and NEW nuts when installing front exhaust pipe. Ensure all bolts/nuts for front exhaust pipe are loosely installed before tightening to specification. Fill crankcase with oil.
