  1. INSPECTION THROTTLE BODY Inspect the throttle control motor for operating sounds. Turn the ignition switch on (IG). When turning the accelerator pedal position sensor lever, check for running sounds of the motor. The motor should be running smoothly without friction sounds. If operation is not as specified, check the throttle control motor, wiring and ECM See step 1 . Inspect the throttle position sensor. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch on (IG). Check that the MIL is off. Turn the tester ON. Enter the following menus: Power train / Engine / Data List / Throttle Position. Depress the accelerator pedal. When the throttle valve is fully opened, check that the value of Throttle Position is within the specification. Standard throttle valve opening percentage 60 % or more If operation is not as specified, check the throttle position sensor, wiring and ECM See step 1 .

  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

  4. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 13»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 14»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)

  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Disconnect the 3 vacuum hoses. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector ( * 1). Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose ( * 2). Disconnect the hose band ( * 3). Disconnect the 3 bands, and remove the air cleaner cap sub-assembly.
  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 18»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  9. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET . Refer to «REMOVAL - Step 19»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  10. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY Disconnect the throttle body connector and clamp. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body. Remove the 4 bolts and throttle body. Remove the throttle body gasket from the intake air surge tank.

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY Measure the resistance between the terminals. Standard resistance Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition 2 (M+) - 1 (M-) 20°C (68°F) 0.3 to 100 ohms 5 (VC) - 3 (E2) 20°C (68°F) 1.2 to 3.2 kohms If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.

  1. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY Install a new throttle body gasket to the intake air surge tank. Install the throttle body with the 4 bolts. Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses. Connect the throttle body connector and clamp.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 70»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 71»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY Install the air cleaner cap sub-assembly, and connect the 3 bands. Connect the mass air flow meter connector ( * 1). Connect the No. 2 ventilation hose ( * 2). Connect the hose band ( * 3). Connect the 3 vacuum hoses.
  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 73»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  6. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL . Refer to «INSTALLATION - Step 99»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/mechanical/#engine-mechanical-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  7. ADD ENGINE COOLANT . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 8»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/cooling-fan/#engine-cooling-system-2gr-fe-service-information-except-hybrid)
  8. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS . Refer to «ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1»(/toyota/camry/xv40-2009-2011/remont/cooling-system-mechanical/#engine-cooling-system-2gr-fe-inspection-except-hybrid)
  9. CHECK FUNCTION OF THROTTLE BODY See step 1

  8. REMOVE ECM Remove the 3 nuts. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors and remove the ECM. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: After disconnecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter do not contact the connecting part of the connector. Remove the ECM. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.

  1. INSTALL ECM Install the ECM bracket with the 4 screws. Torque: 3.0 N*m (31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf) Connect the 2 ECM connectors. NOTE: When connecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter do not become stuck between the connector and other parts. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers. NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered. Install the ECM with the 3 nuts. Torque: 8.0 N*m (82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf)
