Note. Troubleshoot in accordance with the procedures on the following pages.

  1. Vehicle Brought To Workshop
  2. Customer Problem Analysis Check And Problem Symptom
  3. See «PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE»(ref-190097-S35624042812005091300000) Without an applicable problem symptom table, proceed to A. With an applicable problem symptom table, proceed to B. B: Go to step 5 A: Go To Next Step
  4. Perform Troubleshooting By Following Method, Depending On Malfunction Symptom (See «PRE-CHECK»(ref-190097-S11378062872005091300000) ) Inspection with the hand-held tester (ECU DATA MONITOR). CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION

When the ignition switch is OFF, the key is in the ignition key cylinder, and the driver side door is opened, the body ECU operates the combination meter to cause the buzzer to sound.

  1. Read Value Of Hand-Held Tester (Courtesy Lamp Switch) Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON. Select the item "D DOR CTY SW" in the DATA LIST and read its value displayed on the hand-held tester. Standard: ON: Driver side door is open OFF: Driver side door is closed OK : Go to step 4 NG : Go To Next Step
  2. Inspect Courtesy Lamp Switch (Driver Side) Remove the courtesy lamp switch. Check the switch continuity. Standard: NG : Replace Courtesy Lamp Switch OK : Go To Next Step
  3. Check Wire Harness (Body ECU >--< Courtesy Lamp Switch) Disconnect the D12 door courtesy lamp switch (driver side) and B5 ECU connectors. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard: NG : Repair Or Replace Wire Harness OK : Go To Next Step
  4. Check Buzzer (Combination Meter) (See «COMBINATION METER - DIAGNOSTICS»(/toyota/4runner/iv-2002-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#combination-meter-diagnostics) ) NG : GO TO COMBINATION METER SYSTEM (See «COMBINATION METER - DIAGNOSTICS»(/toyota/4runner/iv-2002-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#combination-meter-diagnostics) ) OK : Go To Next Step
  5. Read Value Of Hand-Held Tester (Key Unlock Warning SW) Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON. Select the item "KEY UNLK WRN SW" in the DATA LIST and read its value displayed on the hand-held tester. Standard: ON: The key is in the ignition key cylinder OFF: No key is in the ignition key cylinder OK : Replace Instrument Panel Junction Block Assy NG : Go To Next Step
  6. Inspect Unlock Warning Switch Assy Remove the unlock warning switch. Check the switch continuity. Standard: NG : Replace Unlock Warning Switch Assy OK : Go To Next Step
  7. Check Wire Harness (Body ECU >--< Unlock Warning Switch Assy) (Unlock Warning Switch >--< Body Ground) Disconnect the B6 ECU connector. Disconnect the K3 warning switch connector. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard: Check the continuity between the K3 warning switch connector and body ground. Standard: NG : Repair Or Replace Harness And Connector OK : Replace Instrument Panel Junction Block Assy

  1. Check Courtesy Lamp Switch (Driver Side) Put the dome lamp assy No. 2 switch in the door position and open the driver side door. Then check that the courtesy lamp switch comes on. OK : Go to step 3 NG : Go To Next Step
  2. Inspect Courtesy Lamp Switch (Driver Side) Remove the courtesy lamp switch. Check the switch continuity. Standard: NG : Replace Courtesy Lamp Switch OK : Go To Next Step
  3. Check Wire Harness (Body ECU >--< Courtesy Lamp Switch) Disconnect the D12 door courtesy lamp switch (driver side) and B5 ECU connectors. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard: NG : Repair Or Replace Wire Harness OK : Go To Next Step
  4. Check Buzzer (Combination Meter) (See «COMBINATION METER - DIAGNOSTICS»(/toyota/4runner/iv-2002-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#combination-meter-diagnostics) ) NG : Go To Combination Meter System (See «COMBINATION METER - DIAGNOSTICS»(/toyota/4runner/iv-2002-2005/remont/gauges-instrument-panels/#combination-meter-diagnostics) ) OK : Go To Next Step
  5. Inspect Unlock Warning Switch Assy Remove the unlock warning switch. Check the switch continuity. Standard: NG : Replace Unlock Warning Switch Assy OK : Go To Next Step
  6. Check Wire Harness (Body ECU >--< Unlock Warning Switch Assy) (Unlock Warning Switch >--< Body Ground) Disconnect the B6 ECU connectors. Disconnect the K3 warning switch connector. Check the continuity between the wire harness side connectors. Standard: Check the continuity between the K3 warning switch connector and body ground. Standard: NG : Repair Or Replace Harness And Connector OK : Replace Instrument Panel Junction Block Assy
