  1. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER (TR, SG) Remove the A/C amplifier with the connectors being connected. Turn ignition switch to ON. Measure voltage between terminal TR and SG of the A/C amplifier connector at each temperature. Voltage: at 25 °C (77 °F) : 1.8 - 2.2 V at 40 °C (104 °F) : 1.2 - 1.6 V NOTE: As the temperature increases, the voltage decreases. OK : Proceed To Next Circuit Inspection Shown On Problem Symptoms Table NG : Go to Next Step
  2. Inspect Cooler Thermistor Remove the cooler thermistor (room temp. sensor). Measure resistance between terminals of the cooler thermistor (Room temp. sensor) connector at each temperature. Resistance: at 25 °C (77 °F): 1.65 - 1.75 kohm at 40 °C (104 °F): 0.55 - 0.65 kohm NOTE: As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases, as shown in the illustration. NG : Replace Cooler Thermistor OK : Go To Next Step
  3. Check Harness And Connector (Between Cooler Thermistor (Room Temp.   1. Inspect Air Conditioning Amplifier (TS, TSP, S5) Remove the A/C amplifier assy with the connectors being connected. Turn the ignition switch to ON Check voltage. SR-5 grade: Measure voltage between terminal TS and S5 of the A/C amplifier connector when the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor is subjected to an electric light and when the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor is covered by a cloth. Voltage: Sensor is subjected to electrical light: 0.8 - 3.3 V Sensor is covered by a cloth: Below 0.8 V Limited grade: Measure voltage between terminal TSPA and S5 of the A/C amplifier connector when the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor is subjected to an electric light and when the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor is covered by a cloth.   2. Inspect Cooler (Solar Sensor) Thermistor Remove the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor. Cover sensor with a cloth, and check and measure resistance between terminal 1 and 2 of the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor. Resistance: infinite ohm (No continuity) NOTE: Connect the ohmmeter positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the ohmmeter negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor. Remove the cloth from the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor and subject the sensor to the electric light and measure resistance between terminal 1 and 2 of the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor. Resistance: Approx. 10 kohm (Continuity) NOTE: Connect the ohmmeter positive (+) lead to terminal 2 and the ohmmeter negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor. NG : Replace Cooler (Solar Sensor) Thermistor OK : Go To Next Step
  3.   1. Inspect ECM (LCKI) Remove ECM with the connectors being connected. Start the engine. Operate the A/C system. Check the signal waveform between terminal LCKI of ECM and body ground. Standard: The correct waveform appears as shown in the illustration. OK : Go to step 6 NG : Go To Next Step
  2. Check Cooler Compressor Assy Check and adjust the compressor drive belt tension (See «COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY»(ref-190124-S18696947742005091500000) ). Check if the cooler compressor assy does not lock while running the engine and operating the A/C system. Standard: Cooler compressor assy does not lock during the operation. NG : Replace Cooler Compressor Assy OK : Go To Next Step
  3. Inspect Cooler Compressor Assy (Compressor Lock Sensor) Disconnect the cooler compressor assy connector. Measure resistance between terminal 1 and 2 of the cooler compressor assy connector. Resistance: at 20 °C (68 °F): 165 - 205 ohm NG : Replace Cooler Compressor Assy OK : Go To Next Step
  4. Check Harness And Connector (Between ECM And Air Conditioning Amplifier) Check for open and short circuit in the harness and the connector between the cooler compressor assy and the A/C amplifier (See «ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE»(ref-190050-S42441265552005091300000) ). NG : Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector OK : Go To Next Step
  5. Check Harness And Connector (Between Cooler Compressor Assy And Body Ground) Check for open and short circuit in the harness and the connector between the cooler compressor assy and body ground (See «ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE»(ref-190050-S42441265552005091300000) ).   6. Inspect ECM (ACLD) Remove ECM with the connectors being connected. Operate A/C system. Measure voltage between terminal ACLD of ECM and body ground under each condition.   7. Inspect Air Conditioning Amplifier (ACLD) Remove the A/C amplifier assy with the connectors being connected. Operate the A/C system.   1. Inspect Air Conditioning Amplifier (PSW) Install the manifold gauge set. Remove the A/C amplifier with the connectors being connected. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Check voltage between terminal PSW of the A/C amplifier assy connector and body ground when refrigerant pressure is changed. The voltage changes with refrigerant pressure as shown in the diagram below. Voltage: OK : Proceed To Next Circuit Inspection Shown On Problem Symptoms Table NG : Go To Next Step
  2. Inspect Condenser Assy (Pressure SW) Turn the ignition switch to ON. Check continuity between terminal 1 and 4 of the pressure switch when refrigerant pressure is changed.   1. Inspect Air Conditioning Amplifier (TPO, SG) Remove the A/C amplifier with the connectors being connected. Turn the ignition switch to ON. Change the set air flow mode to activate the mode damper servo sub-assy, and measure voltage between terminal TPO and SG of the A/C amplifier. Measure voltage between terminal B of the air conditioning control panel assy and body ground. Voltage: 10 - 14 V Turn the ignition switch to ON, and measure voltage between terminal IG+ of the air conditioning control panel assy and body ground. Voltage: 10 - 14 V NG : Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector OK : Go To Next Step
  2. Check Harness And Connector (Between Air Conditioning Control Assy And Body Ground) Disconnect the connector form the air conditioning control panel assy. Measure resistance between terminal GND of the air conditioning control panel assy and body ground. Resistance: Below 1.0 ohm (Continuity) NG : Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector OK : Proceed To Next Circuit Inspection Shown On Problem Symptoms Table
