ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR
- Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect electrical connector from ECT sensor. See «ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR LOCATION»(ref-91238-S24112892392001030600000) table. Remove ECT sensor. See ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION - 4-CYLINDER article.
- Place probe end of ECT sensor and thermometer in container of water. Attach ohmmeter between electrical terminals on ECT sensor. Heat water and note that resistance is within specification in relation to temperature. (Scheme 114) Replace ECT sensor if resistance is not within specification.
